I have tons of books on history, politics, religion, business etc....

I actually had political philosophy years ago but in an odd occurrence (letting my brother use my car) It came back to me....

I was looking for my "political philosophy" book everywhere, then a random copy just ends up in my possession?

What are the odds of that? especially since I love the book...

I have plenty of books from Ayn Rand to Mao Zedong (Mao Tse-tung)..

How about Hannah Arendt? I discount Rand, Objectivism is SELFISHNESS, pure & simple.

I have one of Mao's "little red books"

I collect communist (and national socialist Nazi) memorabilia ....

I believe this stuff should be saved - especially the books so those in the future can understand.

I'm totally into any books that came out of the USSR when Stalin was dictator, even propaganda news papers - Castro to boot..

Arendt was a German Jew who escaped the Holocaust by fleeing to the US; "The Human Condition" is her most famous work. That, The Origins of Totalitarianism, Eichmann in Jerusalem, and The Jewish Writings, are good reading on the rise of The Third Reich, and Germany at the time.

It's not selfishness it's individualism...

You think people wont help others financially if they're not forced??

Really shows how progressives view the world...

I know who Arendt is....

Ever hear of Ann Frank??

Anne Frank, yes. I simply don't care for Rand; I LOVED WF Buckley on the other hand. Also, O'Connor & Percy are often termed "conservative". Conservatism combined with atheism does not attract me, no.

"To understand these ideas, we have to understand that story. For that is what conservatism is: a meditation on - and theoretical rendition of - the felt experience of having power, seeing it threatened, and trying to win it back." from book below

I am reading two books now I recommend to every intelligent reader: 'The Reactionary Mind: Conservatism from Edmund Burke to Sarah Palin' and 'This Will Make You Smarter: New Scientific Concepts to Improve Your Thinking.'

Links below.

And lots and lots below, although I should edit it down to the top ten or twenty.

"What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley wrote in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984 Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us...This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right." Neil Postman 'Amusing Ourselves to Death'

Survival Poaching by Ragnar Benson and the complete herbal handbook for farm and stable by Juliette Levy are great reading. Sixguns by Elmer Kieth is another.
