At Texas A&M University, experimenters subject golden retrievers and other dogs to painful muscular dystrophy experiments [www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFE0NvVk6l4]. But 35 years of these experiments have not led to a single treatment to reverse the effects of the disease, let alone a cure. The head experimenter, admits the failure of the dog “model” to translate to humans, noting that the disease pathways are different in dogs than in humans. People who are touched by this are joining us in calling for an end to these cruel experiments and embrace modern research methods that offer real hope of a cure. Please see their testimonies here [www.peta.org/features/speak-out-against-tamu]. If you would like to speak up for the dogs and for modernizing research, please contact [email protected].
