Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Wayne County Executive Warren Evans have called a press conference today at noon to talk about a historic job announcement for Detroit.

It’s speculated that they will announce the new Fiat Chrysler plant built within the city walls of Detroit.

"Three years ago, FCA set a course to grow our profitability based on the strength of the Jeep and Ram brands by realigning our U.S. manufacturing operations,” said Mike Manley, Chief Executive Officer, FCA N.V. “Today’s announcement represents the next step in that strategy. It allows Jeep to enter two white space segments that offer significant margin opportunities and will enable new electrified Jeep products, including at least four plug-in hybrid vehicles and the flexibility to produce fully battery electric vehicles.”

Seeing they are now part of Fiat it is no wonder they suck!

Despite the consumer nannies constantly railing about the poor reliability of "Jeep" and Chrysler products, they remain good sellers because of their features, styling, pricing, and reputation among the working class.

This is GREAT for Detroit and for the United States of America.

Thank you, Donald.

Yes Jeep has a loyal following. Chrysler doesn’t exist, if not for Jeep. However, an electric Jeep is not likely to impress their customers.

I owned a loaded Grand Cherokee with the hemi. What a great vehicle, but it was in the shop a lot and mpg was atrocious. It did hold it’s value, when I recently sold it.

I have a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and am very pleased with the vehicle

I had a jeep liberty for a while some years back and passed it along to my kids and they drove the thing past 250,000 miles...and hard miles they were.
