From Air America to religious content....too perfect.

-----

KXXT was Air America's radio home in Phoenix, featuring left of center talkers such as Al Franken, Randi Rhodes and Ed Schultz, who routinely chastise the Bush administration and rival conservative talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly.

But KXXT's owners sold the station to a Christian broadcasting group last year and the station's format officially went from political talk to religious content on Wednesday.

Air America-Phoenix general manager Robert Christy has talked of trying to acquire another Phoenix AM radio station but said in a Feb. 28 letter to employees that effort was facing some hurdles.

Air America was launched in 2004 as counterweight to conservative-dominated AM talk radio. Rhodes and Franken have become top critics of President Bush and conservative Republicans.

The New York-based broadcasting company has affiliates in most major U.S. radio markets, including Washington D.C., Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Dallas but not Phoenix or Tucson.
