God, Guns and Greed

Dominionism is a bible-based sect of Christianity that does not represent mainstream Christians in America, or elsewhere in the world. This is a very powerful, very well-organized and very wealthy religious-political machine that has been driving toward the goal of marrying church and state in America for decades.

Dominionists believe the federal government should recede into the background. This would be achieved through massive tax cuts. Then the Church would assume responsibility for welfare and education. Tax cuts, Faith-based initiatives and school vouchers are the cornerstone of Bush administration domestic policies and recommended in the Texas GOP Platform. These policies are putting the U.S. on the path toward becoming what the Platform calls a "Christian" nation.

My father and those like him still call themselves Republicans - and they are. The Dominionists have co-opted their Party just like they co-opted Christianity; and just like they have redefined words such as patriotism, conservative, progressive and socialism along the way - dramatically changing conservative politics in America today. Their extremism is profoundly un-American.

God, Guns, and Greed

God has no place in govt and govt has no place in church.

I dont care if my politicians are christian, or not.

I practice my faith and everyone can practice their own because we are protected by the constitiuion.

What Sky is so scared of can not and will not happen. Its just the cause she has taken up so she can bash christianity in her obvious passive agressive way.

I am done with this discussion. We have been down this road before.

God has no place in government? Really? I have read many of your posts and I think you are a person of faith so I will ask you this. If God has no place in Government then why did he say this?

Romans 13:1-5

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.

Yes we are supposed to be subject to mans laws but Gods laws are higher.

1 Timothy 2:1-3

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Gods idea of govt is to provide peace and tranquilty to his people so that they might worship him in peace.

In Romans 13 God is telling us to pay our taxes and obey the laws. We are to honor those in authority and obey mans laws. No where does God direct his children to take power and rule over man. Those who rule over us do so at the pleasure of the Lord.

I don't fully agree with everything you say. The Lord does not always place governmental authority over us to provide peace and tranquility. He can also use that government as an instrument of discipline.

Dominionism is a minor movement on the fringes of Christianity that focuses almost entirely on a spiritual battle for the hearts and minds of America. It is weak, unfunded, and unorganized. If you want to worry about a pseudo-Christian sect that wants to take over the country I suggest you turn your focus to La Santa Muerte.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to focus on reality, I would welcome you back.

I'm going to buy Leah Burton's new book. Keeping an eye on Dominionism is an interest of mine.

I repeat, where are the 218 Congressman, 51 Senators and 37 States full of supporters? In order to pass an amendment that is what is required. You think they are going to magically pass a couple. You even admit they are not mainstream.

I keep asking you, where are all these people going to come from?

Why not simply learn about the groups that are co-opting the Republican Party?

Umm Paul said that.
those are from letters written by paul to churches.

He also said this:

2 Timothy 3:16

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Please define the term God-breathed.

Immie

Paul already did that. Strange how people believe the suthor of something also validating that it was written by divine inspiration.

God told me to write this.

Regular people are not going to vote for the required amendments that this supposed powerful group needs passed. Nor will rank and file Republicans. You are scared of an illusion.

Again. Why not learn about the groups who are co-opting the Republican party?

Are you afraid to learn about them?

For the slow and stupid, that's you by the way. The Republican party will not now nor at any time in the near future advocate support or follow the lead of someone trying to create a theocracy in America. Rank and file Republicans will not vote for those amendments. Rank and file Republicans will not elect people claiming that's what they want to do.

There will never be 218 members of the House, 51 Senators or 37 States that will vote for those amendments. You are delusional.
