I purchased a 2007 GMC Sierra new . This truck has the V8 324 motor quad cab, short box. Since i purchased this truck i have had a major issue with the oil usage. I run full synthetic oil in my truck. GMC dealership told me to run my truck until the check engine light comes on or until my next oil change. I have burnt 2 to 2.5 qts of oil in 2200 miles and service is at 5000 miles. My dealership is the only one that changes the oil in my truck. The truck has 52000 miles on the motor, and has been burning oil for over 2 years now. The entire time GMAC has done nothing other than send me a customer survey email regarding this issue. I purchased the Extended warrenty and so far i have been blown off by GMAC regarding this major motor problem. I am curious if anyone else with this truck or the same motor has had the same issues that i am currently having. If so what has GMAC done for you if anything. Please respond to this post regarding this issue if you have experienced this problem.

You need to drive that thing down to the dealer and DEMAND they fix it, or tell them they leave you no other choice but to get an attorney and you'll see them in court.

Do NOT let these assholes walk all over you. If they think they can blow you off, THEY WILL. They're all about taking your money, but always seem to come up short when it comes to holding up their part of the bargain. Just remember, "the wheel that squeaks gets the grease."

down 2 quarts? The first thing to do is check you oil more often and look underneath for leaks. Not checking your oil often enough and letting it get 2 quarts low will void your warranty.

Your problem may be something as simple as a bad PCV valve.

I've got a 1997 GMC, K1500 Sierra, 4x4 with a 350 c.i. Vortec in it. It has 131,000 miles on it and it doesn't burn a drop of oil.

Well, the FIRST think you want to do is run to a political message board, create an account, and post in their General Chat section. This place is LOADED with GMC employees that will be more than happy to help you.

Take a seat and wait until your number is called. :eusa_whistle:

thanks to everybody that commented on the story about my 2007 gmc. gmac has taken my truck and put another style of valve covers on the motor and has also replaced all the lifters on the drivers side of the motor. they said the valve covers were designed wrong and the oil was being pumped right through the motor by the lifters that were overpumping. since that repair was done, the motor has not used any oil. as to the fact that i was not checking my oil often enough, my dad had a 2002 dodge truck that had 87,000 miles on the motor and was never low on oil in 5,000 mile oil changes with synthetic oil and the chevy dealer could not find any leaks under the truck or on the motor. the chevy dealer told me that when using synthetic oil, oil changes was only required once a yeay unless you put more than 60,000 miles on the motor. now all we have to do is wait and see how the oil usage is going to be with my truck. thanks to all who had feed back about my truck.
