That move would impose new regulation and taxes across the entire economy, something that is usually the purview of Congress. Mr. Grumet warned that "in the absence of Congressional action" 18 months after Mr. Obama's inauguration, the EPA would move ahead with its own unilateral carbon crackdown anyway.

The EPA hasn't made a secret of how it would like to centrally plan the U.S. economy under the 1970 Clean Air Act. In a blueprint released in July, the agency didn't exactly say it'd collectivize the farms -- but pretty close, down to the "grass clippings." The EPA would monitor and regulate the carbon emissions of "lawn and garden equipment" as well as everything with an engine, like cars, planes and boats. Eco-bureaucrats envision thousands of other emissions limits on all types of energy. Coal-fired power and other fossil fuels would be ruled out of existence, while all other prices would rise as the huge economic costs of the new regime were passed down the energy chain to consumers.

The strategy is most notable for what it says about the climate-change lobby and its new standard bearer. Supposedly global warming is the transcendent challenge of the age, but Mr. Obama evidently doesn't believe he'll be able to convince his own party to do something about it without a bureaucratic ultimatum. Mr. Grumet justified it this way: "The U.S. has to move quickly domestically . . . We cannot have a meaningful impact in the international discussion until we develop a meaningful domestic consensus."

Normally a democracy reaches consensus through political debate and persuasion, but apparently for Mr. Obama that option is merely a nuisance. It's another example of "change" you'll be given no choice but to believe in.

The auto industry is floundering, and the oil and coal companies are only temporarily making big profits until the inevitable crash in prices like we had in the 80's.

The WWF say climate change threat has worsened in the 15 months since the IPCC last reported.

Bringing together some of the most recent scientific reports and data, "Climate change: faster, stronger, sooner" reveals that global warming is accelerating more rapidly than the predictions made in the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report published in 2007.

One of the most concerning aspects of recent data is evidence that, in some places, the Arctic Ocean is losing sea ice 30 years ahead of current IPCC predictions.

Summer sea ice is now forecasted to completely disappear in the summer months sometime between 2013 and 2040 -- something which hasn't happened for over a million years.
The report's author, geoscientist Dr Tina Tin told CNN: "Arctic sea ice is melting much faster than everybody had been expecting. Why? Well, maybe it's because the positive feedback mechanisms have kicked in much quicker than we have been able to quantify."

And you keep ignoring the SCIENTIFIC fact that as it increases it has a diminishing effect. And there is not one shred of evidence that the Earth's environment has ever had runaway problems. In fact the evidence indicates that Nature is in fact unlikely to ever support a run away effect at all.

There have been many times that there has been a feedback effect, initiated by geological events, that caused massive and sudden increases in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Not only were there major effects in weather, but in one case, the Permian-Triassic, 95% of all species died out in an estimated 8000 years. This has happened, though not with as massive of an extinctions, several times since that period. The last was about 55 million years ago, and there was about a 20% species die-off world wide.

I don't know of any natural process that operates in a straight line. They all generally pick up speed or slow down in some logrithmic way. The headline should say "Global warming coming faster and sooner....than what? Than our brilliant evironmentalists expected? Than what was "estimated" to begin with? What?
