80 or so years ago our fearless leaders decided that Nevada and nearby parts of California needed water and electricity, so a gazillion dollars were invested in the Hoover Dam, thus solving those problems.

Now, after many years of drought affecting the Colorado river, the water in Lake Mead is way, way down, and Hoover Dam may not be able to fulfill those needs for much longer.

And yet...

They are still building new housing in LV, nobody is moving out in a panic, the lights on The Strip are as bright as ever, the locals are still alowed to take showers, get their cars washed, and so forth.

Why?

Because "we" will devise engineering solutions and work-arounds wherever it is necessary. In LV, they will develop new sources of water, new sources of electricity, and life will go on, albeit with a couple minpr accommodations.

Which is why it is pointless to fret about the impacts of global warming. The impacts will take place gradually, with plenty of warning, and we'll be fine

Las Vegas is one town. What might work for one town probably won't work for the entire country.
