Well as a result of the myriad of Beck threads I've ended up watching about 10 different clips of this guy's show on FOX news.

Do people really take him seriously? He is a conservative version of Jon Stewart. He is a comedy news program IMO and like Jon Stewart you can't take comedy news people seriously.

Why do people get so upset with him and take him so seriously when its just a comedy news show not a serious reporting show?

Beck is a political commentator and not a Comedian as is Jon Stewart (a.k.a. Jon Lebowitz) pretends to be.

I fail frankly to see the comparison. Does Lebowitz do background searches?

So when glennbeck says that he's rodeo clown what he really means is that he's a political commentator?

Scary. That's what this mob of right wing ideologues are to most of us. Scarier still, they have a national platform to use code words and race baiting to spread fear and mistrust. It would be sad, even funny, if so many people weren't hurt by them. Hate crimes are up. False accusations and outright lies have cost good people their jobs and their reputations. And we don't know who will be next.

These millionaires posing as "everyday Joes" are trying to run our lives from a studio -- and it's got to stop.

Truth is scary sometimes isn't it? If you have an open mind you should read his book, "Common Sense". It will open your eyes to lots of interesting stuff.

I love to read, i'll give it a shot as he has been entertaining to watch.

I recommend his new book, "Arguing With Idiots."

It may be the best researched, documented and foot-noted tome that I have read in some time.

The left likes to say he lies, but I have yet to find a statement in his book that he cannot back up with citing.

I understand he is on a news network and all guys, i didn't ignore that aspect .

To me, after watching, i just dont see why/how people could take everything he says seriously. He is obviously blowing things up/out of context to make a point, usually in a humorous way.

I live in Florida, have spent most of the past 20 years in Tampa. Beck used to do local radio here, and friends of mine who were fans have said it was a comedy show. That doesn't mean he didn't espouse certain political views, but he was an entertainer before a political commentator I think. Personally, I think he continues to be at least as much entertainer as anything else; I believe his show is intentionally extreme, or wacky, or whatever description you want to give in order to get and keep a large audience. I don't know what Beck believes, but I doubt his program is a completely accurate depiction of his views. Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I don't trust any of the political opinion people are just giving their views without 'spicing things up', so to speak. Liberal, Conservative, or other, doesn't matter.

I too would recommend anyone to read Common Sense and Arguing With Idiots before you decide what Glenn Beck is.

He's a libertarian.
He's a Mormon.
He's a recovering alcoholic.

His Arguing With Idiots is, as has already been stated, well researched and documented. Every word of it is backed up with facts.

He has a dedicated line to the WH that Anita Dunn is welcome to use any time they see him say anything that is not true. Why has Anita not called?

He has 'refounders' - people inside both political parties who feed him information about their own side. These people - no one knows who they are, including Beck - are concerned about the corruption and dishonesty within their own parties. That's what they tell Beck about.

People may mock him - hell, he mocks himself - but if he's wrong, why isn't anyone proving he's wrong? He's got MSNBC watching him looking for errors. Why aren't they finding errors? Why are they not finding errors?

Personally, I think you should ask yourselves just one thing.... WHAT IF HE IS RIGHT?

If you look at what he is actually saying, what if he is right? If he is, what kind of country are we heading towards? And is it what we want?

It would be great if, instead of discussing Beck, we could discuss what he is saying. Chances of that happening on this board are slim but instead of looking at the messanger, should we not be talking about the message?

When you finish it, get hold of Common Sense. Trust me. Glenn is not the idiot he comes across as. He's perhaps too passionate for some - and a total goofball - but neither of those things make him wrong.

If you watch his program, and ignore the OTT theatrics - I ask again 'what if he is right?' Why is no one from any other MSM or the Administration countering his claims?
