Glacier National Park Losing its Glaciers

Too bad. Maybe the left longs for the good old days not long ago in geological terms when the glacier extended all the way to Virginia. We didn't do it. Enjoy the warmer climate and quit using it as a political tool.

Did you two just agree that it is getting warmer?

Never said it wasn't. We are currently enjoying an interglacial period that began 14,000 years ago and has had climate swings since then where it has alternately become much hotter (Holocene Thermal Maximum of 8,000 years ago, Roman Warming Period of 2,000 years ago and most recently the Medieval Warming Period of 1000 years ago) and colder (6th Century Climate Catastrophe, Little Ice Age that ended a mere 162 years ago) regardless of the fact that the CO2 levels remained much lower than they are today.

My argument is mans role in the warming. I say his role is minimal to none based on the well recorded aforementioned temperature swings that occured when teh CO2 levels were much lower. Taken along with that is the fact that CO2 levels only increase hundreds of years AFTER a warming period has occurred and it becomes quite plain that CO2 has no effect on warming.

Thus, one must look elsewhere for a cause, and so far the only theory that matches up with observed behavior is the heliocentric theory which matches the observed warming record exactly.

Studies have repeatedly shown that when it is warmer all life on this planet does better.

I'm sure Westwall can show us these supposed studies, if he's not just making crap up.

There are some ruined civilizations in the southwest USA area that would be interested to know how rising temperatures helped them out.

North Africa would also be surprised to find that their transformation from bread basket to blasted desert was a super good thing.

Rising temps helped northern europe, sure. Intelligent people, however, understand that northern europe is not the world.

They were stressed due to drought brought on by cold weather. You really should look up some of the research being done these days.

As for the Sahara I suggest you look up the "Sahara Pump Theory". If you actually bothered to look at the history of the place you would find that when it was super warm during the Holocene Thermal Maximum it was a verdant land. Then when it got cold again (around 3400 BCE) the monsoon shifted south to where it is today and returned the Sahara to the way it was around 11,000 BCE.

You see dear person the planet operates on a time scale far slower than us. Some day, when you have actually read something other than politically motivated studies based on crap, you might understand that.

Well, the planet did operate on a much slower scale. Now we have a good chance of seeing the Arctic Ice gone for part of the summer as early as 2020. And we are seeing CO2 and CH4 emitted from the permafrost at an increasing rate. The Arctic Clathrates are beginning to outgas, also. The ice melt on Greenland is accelerating. As is the melting of most of the world's alpine glaciers. We see the process of acidification starting in the oceans. And number of extreme weather events worldwide has risen by a factor of 3 or 4 in the space of about 40 years.

But, just keep moving folks, nothing to see here.

Nothing new with that....It is the earths natural process.....

The earth doesn't give a rats ass what temperature WE like.

Explain to us how the planetary cycles have suddenly stopped working then. The ice levels in eh Antarctic are increasing year over year. The Arctic is holding steady no matter how hard you stamp your feet and fudge the numbers.

Glaciers are advancing all over the world, and if the cooling trend continues as the non-political scientist theorise, the glaciers worldwide will all be advancing soon.
