Interesting. Looks like modern federalism is different from the classical American federalism. The classical American federalism supports the self determination of every identity group in its principles.

Nationalism is bad, because it does nothing but create turf wars, out of which it derives national majorities, to rob everyone else, then uses that to go back to the turf war part of its cycle. Nationalism is what will eventually lead to a selective one world government, by creating and pushing country borders around, like they started with ww1. And if you are not on the selected list then you are history.

To anotherlife: America won two World Wars in the last century, and several small “conflicts”, but did not increase its territory by one inch. The definition of one government world evil starts with touchy-feely garbage that says Americans have a moral obligation to save the peoples of the world —— as the Socialist priesthood defines moral obligation.
To anotherlife: WWI was fought between two colonial empires. President Wilson chose sides in a conflict that was none of America’s business. He mistakenly thought a League of Nations would end wars. His mistake is the foundation for today’s New World Order thinking.

NOTE: There would have been no Soviet Union, or Nazi Germany, or the United Nations, had Wilson remained neutral or at least sided with Germany.

    I totally agree with this!

Socialists have always been dangerous at least in that they rewrite history and place blame and obligations on people. And yes, Wilson generated huge "mistakes" but I think he was manipulative or at least pushed so he made them on purpose. He should have left Austria-Hungary in place, and yes, he should have sided with Germany, the weaker side of the conflict, but his real goal was not stability but more war. Wilson's historic legacy on the long run is turning out to be that he manuvered the USA into the same trouble as Germany was maneuvered into for ww1.

Wilson thereby destroyed the truly federal countries of Europe, and replaced them with nationalist powers of turf war. Then the USA repeated this mistake again, by putting France back on the map after ww2. This is why I wrote that in Europe, federalism was a source of stability, and nationalism is evil. I begin to think, that we are now seeing a terminology inversion between Europe and America, as in many other matters as well.
