Given What We Know, How Can Anyone Rationally Blame the FL School Shooting on Guns?

It's the school's fault for being grossly negligent and endangering their students due to a total lack of adequate security. Schools are a killing zone for a predator, this is known and foreseeable. They must be secured, there is no other option.
Nope. There is no reason to think when you have hired security, have an armed deputy sheriff on the grounds AND have no unlocked doors except the one into the office, that you have not done enough. They have done so many red zone drills that the students knew what to do. They went above and beyond. It's a school, pupps. This is NOT supposed to happen. I don't want our children going to school in a fucking penitentiary.

Armed guards dont need to be intimidating OL.

I was married to a teacher who is now a school administrator. She tells me that it's pathetically easy to enter into a school.

Here's what we know:

* The FBI received two warnings about Cruz, one of which came after he posted a message on YouTube saying he wanted to become a "professional school shooter" last year.

* The FBI failed to investigate Cruz and did not even place him under temporary surveillance. (Too bad Cruz didn't work for the Trump campaign, hey?!)

* Cruz bought his rifle legally, and his idiot guardians let him keep it even though they knew he was troubled.

* Cruz posted a message on Instagram about wanting to kill animals, and his schoolmates knew about this.

* Cruz's schoolmates said he talked about guns a lot and that he seemed weird and troubled.

* Yet, none of the people at that school who knew these things, and other things, bothered to inform the police about them.

* Cruz's behavior was deemed so potentially dangerous that he was banned from bringing a backpack to school before he was expelled.

* The police were called to Cruz's home multiple times.

* Come to find out there was an armed deputy sheriff at the high school, but somehow he never managed to confront Cruz. Yeah, uh-huh. One can only imagine why.

Nikolas Cruz: A portrait of suspected Florida high school gunman who shot and killed 17 people

And liberals wanna blame this shooting on guns?! What if Cruz had used a car and had killed and injured the same number of students by driving over them as they were leaving school?

This was a failure of Cruz's schoolmates and teachers to inform the police about him. This was a failure of the FBI to follow up on the clear leads it received about Cruz (again, too bad he wasn't a Trump staffer). This was a failure of his legal guardians to forbid him from owning a gun in the first place. Where in the devil was that armed deputy sheriff during the shooting, and how did he not manage to even get close to Cruz, much less confront him?

By the way, did Cruz attend church regularly? Did he read the Bible regularly? Did he hang out with church-going friends? So far, he appears to have been a godless, secular, immoral, and troubled young man. How many school shooters have been devout religious people or at least morally sound people who were known to be honest and upright? ZERO.
So, it's the cops' fault, schoolmates' fault, foster parents' fault, and to put a cherry on top, the result of Godlessness. Beautiful.

Yes, it is. They all knew what a nutjob he was and did nothing about it.

Which proves what a sham gun control really is.

No. We don't blame guns. Just like we didn't blame the planes for 9/11.

But we did take measures to tighten security, make it very difficult for terrorists to get planes filled with jet fuel. Not perfect, but made an effort. And we didn't let the travel lobby dictate what restrictions were reasonable.

So take measures to tighten security in schools. but that isn't what you are implying we do is it now?

Schools are crazy locked down to how they were when I went.

There was a fence around the school.

We had 2 doors open on either end of the classroom and all windows, unless it was cold.

I think my teacher would have clawed a mass shooter in his eyes and killed him.

She had some claws.

There were zero mass school shootings then.

Then were spankings and soap-mouth-washings.

How on earth did this guy pass the background check to purchase a gun given what was discovered at his school?

He's 17, he didn't.

I'll bet if we did the research, which I'm too lazy to do, we could draw a parallel between the passing of new gun laws and the increase in school shootings. It would be dishonest and exactly the kind of thing democrats love to do, but it does show how gun laws don't really work.

Idk about Broward County, but we have a police officer at every school here.

Guess what he/she carries? A gun!

Just think: Teachers with guns = 100x that per school.

Add the students @ 30 per class= 3000% moar effective at putting down mass shooters!

Really? That's your spin on the OP? That's why it's usually a waste of time to try to reason with you folks. I mean, I thought it went without saying that of course the main responsibility for the shooting is the shooter's. I just thought that everyone here was rational enough to take that as a given and that we were talking about important secondary factors. I should have known better.

If what's in the OP is true, the FBI needs reworked from the ground up.

That um, Ft. Lauderdale airport shooter tried to alert the FBI on himself, they did diddly.

What do you do when someone isn't doing the job you hired them to?

You fire their ass, that's what!

Hang on... What law did he break? All of ye talk all day about your right to own guns, this guy broke no laws so has a right to own guns...

Also you say the FBI is allowed to investigate people who are acting suspiciously and interfere with their rights... The FBI was suspious of a number of people in the Trump campaign and they investigated them and a lot of people here scream blue bloody murder....

You are looking very stupid right now...

Excuse me, Mr. Dipshit poster? You have to be 18 to own a rifle in America. Yes, he broke laws.

You damn sure ain't no cowboy, or you'd know that.

Oh my goodness. You're comparing the FBI's failure to properly investigate Cruz talking about being a professional school shooter with the FBI's baseless, corrupt investigation of Trump people?! Now THAT is stupid.

There are multiple causes for the unbelievable number of school shootings in the USA when they are almost unheard of in the rest of the world.
But to deny the fact that the number of guns in our society and lax gun regulations are not a part of it, a big part of it, you are an idiot.

So if Cruz had used a car and had run over and killed 17 students, would you be saying that "car ownership and our lax car ownership laws are a part, a big part, of the problem"? Humm?

I mean, cars are frequently used as weapons by people. Terrorists have used cars to slam into crowds and kill and injure dozens of people. Plus, car accidents kill at least 30,000 people per year and seriously injure some 1.7 million people per year. Using your logic, private ownership of cars should be banned or severely restricted, and public transportation should be vastly expanded.

Yes, I'll say it again: To blame guns and gun laws in this case is pathetic when there were so many clear red flags about Cruz and so many opportunities to stop Cruz before he did this. How about blaming the liberal refusal to arm teachers? How about blaming the FBI's amazing failure to properly follow up on two leads about Cruz? Gee, too bad Cruz wasn't part of the Trump campaign--maybe then the FBI would have investigated him and wire-tapped him. How about blaming Cruz's godlessness? Tell me: How many Christians who regularly attend mainstream Bible-based churches and who associate with strong believers as their best friends have committed school shootings? ZERO. How many school shooters have been godless/secular people?

The House passed a bill months ago to make it much harder for mentally ill people to buy guns. What happened to that bill? It's still stuck in the Senate. Why? Why hasn't it been passed by the Senate? Hey?

We continuallt try and make cars safer and drivers must use in safe ways { no drinking and driving, no cell phone and driving etc.} Anyone who truely needs a car and is qualified to use it can get one.
It should be the same for guns.

If there was a NCA {National Car Association} when seat belts were mandated they would have said NO. First you mandate seat belts, what is mandated next.
