It's a pointless argument. It doesn't matter to some that during the Crusades it was the Christians who were murderous and brutal and Saladin who was merciful and generous and who gave safe passage to the defeated, instead of putting them to the sword. To them Islam is all about murderers and Christianity is all about good people. It's blinkered, close-minded and eventually bigoted but they're entitled to their views. I find it best not to engage them though. Instead I just move on.
