Ginrich, you can go to Hell.

Newt is, has been and will always be about Newt. He's a Republican Bill Clinton.

The more stuff like this that comes out, the more I'm convinced he's some sort of sociopath. :cuckoo:
Completely debauched as he is, Clintoon was more benign.

Gingweasel and inSanetorum scare the living hell out of me.

Santorum's last name is bad enough without modifying it...trust me. ;)

Santorum

I've never even looked at Edwards, I'll defer judgement until a later time after I've studied the democratic side. I'm more interested in voting republican this year.

Then vote for someone you can support. If it's not Gingrich, then don't support him. Im not.

I'm looking at Huntsman right now. As the only one that doesn't deny scientific fact I think he deserves a reasonable chance.

Global warming isnt scientific fact. It's scientific junk.

Evolution, Sir.

Evolution.

Climate change is an established fact, global warming maybe, but not to such a degree that some people run with it.

The key to this election will be to hold the congress and take the senate.

As far as Presidential candidates go, you know what, I'm tired of "wanting a virgin". I'm tired of "teleprompter fabulous speakers". I'm tired of seeing people get elected that have to be "photogenic".

I'm really sick to death of "we have to work with the democrats" meanwhile the democrats want to cut every Republicans nuts off.

I'd just like to see some one elected who can do the fucking job. Pardon my french.

You mean republicans don't want to cut ever democrats nuts off?

Cognitive bias much?

Be nice if they did. Some of them need it. Figuratively speaking.

Maybe, some of those ultra liberals really annoy me. So do Hyper conservative religious nuts though.

(No pun intended.)

"Gingrich said he didn't go to war because he had a child. This man married 3 times, divorced first wife while she was in the hospital with cancer, failed to pay adequate child support, and cheated on his second wife while trying to impeach Clinton."

"Hiding behind a family he later broke up and betrayed is the lowest form of hypocrisy.
Before you dismiss this as some kind of liberal smear campaign against Gingrich, most of these attacks actually came from conservative Christians who are tired of his hypocrisy."

Family Values Remain Gingrich

Yea, Gingrich is a liar and a hypocrite.

And John McCain was a war hero but the worst Presidential candidate who ran the worst campaign ever next to Bob Dole another war hero.

John McCain and his moderate hands across the aisle bullshit gave America Obama.

He's a pathalogical liar, that should raise a huge red flag.

Newt has proven time and again that he clearly doesn't hold much personal value in his moral character. Some say integrity deficit can be balanced with intelligence surplus. I say the president is a leader not a ruler and his job is justice. A president's essential job requirement is the intuitive ability to make decisions that benefit others. It's a wisdom that's partly innate and partly developed throughout the course of one's life. If you've experienced your life pursuing personal desires at the expense of not concerning yourself with the well-being of others, forgiveness can always be given to you in an instant but wisdom is not at all spontaneous.

So what do you think of Edwards, who was banging a bitch while his wife was dying of cancer? Oops, he's a Democrat...

The only Democrat running is Obama. Edwards was in 2008 and he produced a love child with this woman who was supposedly making a documentary with him.

Alas, you must be forgetting the "Gang of Fourteen".

What's remarkable is that any R wants to play nice in the sandbox with the same people who changed locks on them and turned out lights on them.

And continually lie about Republican positions on a daily basis, call conservatives racist, call tea party candidates terrorists, say R's want to make old people eat dog food and the list is endless.

Special pleading is a form of spurious argumentation where a position in a dispute introduces favorable details or excludes unfavorable details by alleging a need to apply additional considerations without proper criticism of these considerations themselves. Essentially, this involves someone attempting to cite something as an exemption to a generally accepted rule, principle, etc. without justifying the exemption.

"Gingrich ....."Hiding behind a family..."

You're not going to have much luck with this kind of analysis here.

In order to understand why the Right began using Family Values politically, you have to go back to the postwar years. The Left established a powerful bond with the middle class (because FDR and subsequent administrations created an entire policy universe dedicated to increasing the economic security of the middle and lower classes). Which is why, from FDR through Carter, the Right was in the wilderness. Even GOP Presidents like Nixon and Eisenhower governed as FDR-style New Dealers, both having to acquiesce to the consensus for Big Government. Where did the consensus come from? It came from the golden age of managed capitalism. Government gave people jobs, social security, education assistance, etc. Government built roads, bridges, damns, energy grids, & public parks. Washington won WWII, built the infrastructure of modern America, and put a man on the moon. It was seen as part of the solution.

Then came Vietnam & Watergate: Trust in government died.

And stagflation: belief in Washington's ability to manage the economy died.

(and Friedman proved the link between Keynes and inflation)

MEANING: The Right had an opening. Their goal, starting in the 60s with the Goldwater campaign, was to steal populism from the Left - to win the hearts and minds of average middle class Americans. Rather than being angry at the "great malefactors of wealth", the Right would agitate anger over Liberal government and Liberal values, which had gone too far with the 60's revolution. Nixon used the term "Silent Majority" to signify the traditional Americans who felt alienated by bra burners, black panthers, atheists, and anti-war free-lovin' hippies.

Family Values became absolutely central to the Right's campaign to win back the middle class from the Democratic Party, who abandoned heartland values for alternative lifestyles, and the Bible for a bong. Starting in the 70's, the right poured money into a central message: The American family is in a moral crisis. Indeed, we were told that the family is being ripped apart by the elevation of gays and sexually liberated, career minded woman.

From the 70s onward, every single politician on the Right would use the exact same family values rhetoric in every election. They did this with the same repetition as the Left's cry for social justice. Each party calcified into silly caricatures - hoping to manipulate low-information voters with easy slogans.

But make no mistake: the Right seized the moment brilliantly in the 70s. They pointed at great cities like New York & Chicago which had become the festering sores of liberal economic and social policies, filled with welfare slums and atavistic drug-infested ghettos.

Put simply: the traditional family was under siege. Divorce rates rose to an all time high. College kids were wearing Che Guevara T-shirts, smoking pot, and burning the American flag at anti-war rallies.

"You can't fly when you're high" says Nancy Reagan upon launching the infamous War on drugs. This slogan signaled Reagan's shift from corporate crime (his donors) to pot dealers (democratic voters). America would spend the next 30 years worrying more about blacks peddling nickel bags than white bankers peddling sub primes. While we were busy putting an entire generation of African Americans in cages for a harmless weed, the banks were quietly weaving an asset bubble that would destroy the global economy and set the country back decades. This 2008 meltdown could not have been done without Reagan's paradigmatic shift of law enforcement from junk bonds to marijuana.

But let's not lose sight of how the Conservatives emerged from the New Deal wilderness: put simply, the Right offered itself as a cure to the values crisis unleashed by the sixties revolution. This is why Reagan - an unreligious divorced man who was estranged from his children - partnered with Pat Robertson and the Moral Majority. Reagan realized that he could use Family and Religious values to peel off white Christian Democrats who were not willing to follow the socialist pot smoking atheist Left.

(And it worked. See "Reagan Democrats". Please note: Reagan's Family Values rhetoric was so powerful that he was able to win massive support from northern catholic union workers in states like Ohio and Wisconsin)

The Right has been using the "family values" strategy ever since. One would think that a smart electorate would get wise to this disingenuous political ruse. A smart voter would look at the pedophiles, liars, adulterers in congress and realize that politicians cannot be trusted. Unfortunately, the Right has always trusted their Washington politicians (like Gingrich). "Family Values" rhetoric, no matter how fake it sounds, works incredibly well with a certain portion of the electorate.

True. But I prefer a simpler explanation and remedy.

Democrats are over the top asswipes who need the proverbial shit kicked out of them again at the ballot box in 2012.

It's cage match time at the ballot box this year. It's the royal rumble. I want to see chair shots in every Senate race.

I want to see the Democrats crushed. I want to hear the lamentations of the DNC.

:D

Did I mention I'm really looking forward to this election?
