Gibbs Can't Name Countries Where Single-Payer System Works

Unfortunately, President Obama isn't asking for single payer, only a choice of your private plan or public plan.

If a single payer plan is not what he is aiming for, then why was he defending it when he spoke to the AMA?
President Obama spoke very clearly, and emphasized that if you like your present health insurance you'll be able to keep it.

That is until the private companies try to compete with the gov. They won't be able to and will fold, thereby leaving only gov run healthcare.

Good ... let the private companies stop paying multi-million dollar salaries on the back of denied claims. If they can't compete, screw them.

You've got to feel sorry for Gibbs having to clean up all the bullshit Obama lays out there.

Ah, while planning to tax private health benefits eh?

Now why would Obama want to do that?

He wouldn't be herding everyone into the public plan would he?

Nah............
Isn't taxing benefits what McCain wanted to do?

The guy can't even name a country where single payer healthcare works... LOL CAN'T NAME ONE!

Open your eyes people!!!!!!! If it's such a huge success shouldn't they be able to name one country where it is successful???????:cuckoo:

For one thing, a press secretary needs to weigh the import of any question, especially broad ones that demand a single response. If Gibbs had named a country, it would immediately make the rounds of the chattering noise machines 24/7 with every pundit weighing in on how WRONG he is for this reason, for that reason, and did we mention blah blah blah that happens in [ fill in the country ]??

Most lame response of the night. Congrats!

Try being press secretary. Or you can Google comments from Ari Fleischer, Scott McClellan, Tony Snow, Dana Perino and tell me when they responded to vague questions. Or an even easier assignment--watch a few reruns of The West Wing (BRAVO, 8-10AM).

Frankly, this is such a non-issue. I think I must be bored.

Competition is fine as long as its on a level playing field. The gov run H/C will not have any tax burden and probably less regulation. But don't worry, you that want the nanny state will more than likely get it. People lose any sense of logic when they think they are going to get something for free.
I still don't know why some think we have the right to another's time, energy , knowledge and resources I'm not a liberal (thank God), so I don't think that way.
