Spectracide has a nice spray..with a range of about 20 feet..Ya can nail a nest without getting too close..do it at dusk after they all return "home" and are calm.

Get a spray bottle & fill it wirh soapy water, like dish soap. Protect yourself & then spray. They'll get really PISSED! But the soap clogs their backends (where they breathe) and they'll die.

It's not obsession..it's exercise, damnit!..We chase those lil bastards all over the yard, starting now and ending in the fall..It keeps us fit. Then next year we do it again..
