Waiting on the Cowardly Dante!!
Amid rising drug and health care costs and roiling market dynamics, the spokesperson for the nation’s health insurers is predicting substantial increases next year in Obamacare premiums and related costs.

Without venturing a specific percentage increase, Marilyn Tavenner, the president and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), said in an interview with Morning Consult that the culmination of market shifts and rising health care costs will force stark increases in health insurance rates in the coming year.

“I’ve been asked, what are the premiums going to look like?” she said. “I don’t know because it also varies by state, market, even within markets. But I think the overall trend is going to be higher than we saw previous years. That’s my big prediction.”

If Tavenner is right, Obamacare will jump dramatically—last year’s premium for the popular silver-level plan surged 11 percent on average. Although Tavenner didn’t mention deductibles, in 2016, some states saw jumps of 76 percent, while the average deductible for a 27-year-old male on a silver plan was 8 percent.

The warning to consumers from Tavenner, the former administration official who headed the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and oversaw the disastrous launch of HealthCare.gov, the Obamacare website, comes at a time of growing uncertainty about the evolving makeup of the Obamacare health insurance market. With many insurers struggling to find profitability in the program, the collapse of nearly half of the 23 Obamacare insurance co-ops and this week’s announcement that giant UnitedHealth Group intends to pull out of most Obamacare markets across the country, anticipating future premiums and copayments is largely risky guesswork.....

Already rebutted in an earlier thread, so let's close this one down as mere propaganda.

They've been saying this from the start. So far, it hasn't happened. RWNJs lie and Repubs want it to be true but its not.

That's okay though. LyinRyan once again promised the Repubs would be unveiling their own version this week. Oh wait. Its already Thursday and still, nuthin'.

RWNJs are so gullible. And SO dishonest.

Can you prove it isn't true ?

Nobody can.

It would be really great if just one person on this board laid up some numbers.

You haven't.

United is not a big player and is driven by profit motive for its share holders.

Understandable, yes, but we are entering an age where competent, affordable, accessible health care is mandatory for all Americans.

What is interesting is that the person being quoted here is a representative for the health insurance industry.

She's not an elected official (she is not a partisan).

It is certainly true that people have been screaming about issues with Obamacare (in some cases it is the lies....what didn't happen and they've been yelling about it's impact....it certainly has made low cost insurance illegal.....).

Mostly they are partisan.

What does the insurance industry have to gain by telling people that there will be "startk" increases in rates.

People are already paying to much.

I go back to the idea that we still don't address the 8,500 per person. That is just way to much.

We are spending a great deal of unnecessary money on health care (or calling it health care).

What gives ?

Back to the old system....or onto single payer....nothing changes as long as we are paying that much per person.

Obamacare, contrary to it's bleating worshippers, has done nothing to change that.

Can you please show us where the person who is making this claim is RW.

Who cares about LyinRyan.....? Where did he come up ?

Answer...he didn't...you are just making stuff up to argue against.

Ryan is a moron.

You must be a close relative.

What is even more funny is that we still have tens of millions of uninsured.

This system can't help them right now.

And it never will..........

We will never go to single payer.

American won't tolerate it.

Bottom line that is fact- People aren't signing up for the disaster. Just not enough revenue to pay the sacred cow

But those who are....are draining it.

Which is what is making it a disaster.....

And insurance companies...as a whole...are making big money....just not off the exchanges.....

Who's paying for all that ?

What about all those costs ?

Medicare can't handle it now....what happens when they try to push everyone onto it ?

This country won't survive.

Obamacare is a disaster.....

Single Payer would be even worse.

We don't have a good fix....

We don't have anyone looking for one.

More opinions that mean nothing from the far right.

Come up with a good alternative plan, but understand we are not going back to the old ways.

I just LOVE the way you stick up for anything Subversive!

jake loves the big insurance corps

I assumed he was posting to this thread.

He's on ignore.

But when I quote you, his post comes along with it.

There's nothing rebutted in this thread or any of the others.

Republicans have been crying wolf and the democrats have made them look bad.

But you can't run from the simple fact that if we are showing up at the doctors office and hospitals at a cost of $8,500 per person per year....we are going to have bigger costs.

That isn't the fault of Obamacare.

That is a simple fact.

Single payer won't help either. That is because there will always be a huge secondary market. The government would never try to stop that....and survive.

The bottom line is that we are going to have huge costs....not because of Obamacare.

But Obamacare hasn't and won't do a darn thing about it.
