We should start a pool. Who will win this one?

“If somebody wants to stop us, they have to take action to try and stop us,” he said.

Earlier this year, the governor signed a bill authorizing sports gambling. This week, his administration will submit regulations that would allow sports bets to be taken in the state before the year ends. However, officials are expecting a legal challenge to arise out of a federal ban that prohibits sports gambling in nearly every state, including New Jersey, Christie said.

“That is going to be their burden to try and prevent it, and that’s why we are doing it the way we are doing it,” the governor said. “May we have to go through some litigation to get there? Probably, but I think we’ll be successful.”

When Gov. Chris Christie signed a law in January opening the door to sports betting in New Jersey, it was only a matter of time before professional sports cried foul.

Today, saying they wanted to protect the integrity of professional and amateur games, the four major leagues and the NCAA filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court to block New Jersey from allowing sports wagering.

State Sen. Ray Lesniak (D-Union), whose law firm last year lost a bid to overturn the 1992 federal legislation, said the sports organizations would have to defend the constitutionality of an "unfair" law that gives a monopoly to a few states, offshore betting operators and organized crime.

"Let the games begin," Lesniak said. "From the start, we wanted our day in court to prove that the federal ban on sports wagering is unconstitutional. By moving forward with a law to legalize sports wagering in New Jersey — a law that was approved overwhelmingly by the voting public of New Jersey — we drew a line in the sand and dared the sports organizations to cross it."

Get out of the way haters. NJ needs it.

You mean the New Jersey Blimp. Obama will put so many holes in him that he will loose all that hot air in him.

Good one.:cuckoo:

Attacking people instead of issues is getting really fucking old.

Should NJ be permitted to have sports betting at the casinos just like 4 other states?
Choose one:

1. yes
2. no
3. Christie is fat

Gambling generates nothing it is a drain on society. It takes from on segment, not the rich, and gives to another, the rich. This gambling BS is perfect for those who get in first and can live off revenue from those who travel to their state. But as soon as it is legal in all states it will drag all of us into the abyss.

You want to maybe try to be careful with that kind of talk.
Next someone may accuse you of threatening the Gov.:eusa_whistle:

Or using sexist hate speech. According to the urban dictionary:

Why on earth would the Feds be involved in regulating sports gambling? I wager only on ponies so I'm out of the loop on this, but it seems crazy that Governor Christie would have to fight the federal government over this.

Apparently in 1992, there was a law granting 5 states permission inc. NJ. NJ opted out. Now they want to "opt in" and the feds say "Too late". It's ridiculous and its equally outrageous that the pros want to stop it. Integrity? Give me a break. Sports betting is as American as apple pie. Why not let the state get a piece of it?

Who knows? Maybe the Mafia Bookies Union is in the feds pocket.

Everybody who bowls looks like a faggot
Obama has a sweet three point shot and can play point guard

Christie has a hard time waddling a hundred yards.

That's just what I was going to allude to, Chanel. It takes the bookies out of the mix. Legalizing sports gambling only makes sense for revenue for the state.

Everyone wants to bet on games, hell there's office pools and bar room bookies all over the place.
