Germany. Here´s Germay

First of all what province are you from? Nordrhein-Westfalen?

Thats right, but it´s the southern corner of NRW. I live in an small town called "Siegen" - that means "winning" but it has its name from the small river here, the Sieg.
you know Siegen from this:

The Krombacher brevery is just around the corner.

The borders of Hessen and Rheinland-Pfalz are only a few kilometers away.

What the hell is a "wild-cat"?

Being German as you are I honestly believe that U.S. culture would be more shocking to you than if you were french. Germans don't fit in well here in most cases. They see it as a party spot and Americans as uneducated, backwards rednecks, and for the most part intelectually inferior despite how much you might like some of us. Your age obviously makes you more objective than a 13 year old boy who has spent 90% of his life hearing about U.S. wars.

well, let´s discuss and breaking down our prejudices

On the other side of the coin, as an American who has been from 1 side of your country and down the other on numerous ocassions I percieve you country as a socialist, oversexed, heavily polluted, vastly overpopulated, and a thoroughly secular humanist experiment. But that is just the negative side. Plenty of positive of course. I don't have many unkind things to say about my time in Germany.

oversexed, heavily polluted, vastly overpopulated...

hmmm. Yes, it´s normal to see an blank bosom even in the afternoon-advertising-breaks. But on the other hand, we don´t have these explicit violence represences in media.
Let´s give me an actual example to you: Your famous series "Breaking Bad". First i saw it in english, the original us-version. There was in one short sequence a blank breast to see - and it was pixilated. Later was a murder shown, very slow and very detailled. In the german version, the blank bosom was not pixilated but the murder scene was shorter and cuttet. I think, we have to accept that this is nothing more or less than a cultural difference. And the american media aren´t really undersexed, when i see your porn industry?

"heavily polluted". How do you come to this opinion? Usually, we´re very proud here of our enviroment protection laws. As much as i know, Germany is the leader of pollution preventing technology but if you have other information or meanings, please let me know.

"Overpopulated" Well...you can´t get lost in Germany, that´s true. Just walk a few miles and the next village will come. But I like that.

Did the Vietnam war happen?
Did Stalin´s gulag happen?
Did the american civil war happen?

What a question!

there is absolutely no doubt about the holocaust.

If we like to discuss about this, please use another level.

My question about this is: Did the people die in the concentration camps for nothing or did mankind learn anything about this happening? But we shold discuss this in an extra thread.

Most Germans feel similar. But we refuse today to feel a "Guilt" about it. We´re ready to keep the responsibility that the Holocaust will never be forgotten. But we feel angry, when we are made "Guilty" for something that did happen long befre the most of us were born.

Moin (north german dialect for "hi")

i´m a male, 39-years old MA and work as a quality engeneer. I was the last time in the US in the year 1995.

What i saw then and what i see now makes me deeply sad. In 1995 i made a greyhound trip in the middle west round kansas. I was really shocked an in fear by all these crack addicted fucked up people hanging around everywhere. You won´t see this in the deepest slums of Berlin.

But that wasn´t all i saw. I really love these open hearted, freindly and interested people, their curiosness and their open mind, asking me a "hole in the belly" (we say so in german) everywhere. That´s i fell in love with, sadly i never came back until now.

I love your cars until the mid 80´s. Yesterday i dreamt of a mint 69 Wildcat convertible.

Lets discuss.
Pura Vida.
That was before the place got invaded by murkinz.
I call it The Nation formerly known as The United States of America.
Sad but true.
The flag worshipers are still in denial.
