Dresden was revege for Coventry, or so I'm told.

It was not a military target, it was a psycological target meant to demoralize the German people by detroying one of the most beautiful cities in Germany with all its inhabitants.

Firebombing raids were DESIGNED to kill the people AND destroy the city, too.

For example the first wave of a firebombing drops fire bombs sparsely around the city.

This brings out the towns emergency workers seeking to put out the flames.

THEN the next wave drops anitPERSONNEL bombs to wipe out those firefighters.

Then the next wave of incendiary bombs is dropped to finish off the city.

Yes that was the DESIGN of a firebombing raid which was designed by the RAF and carried out by both BRIT and AMERICAN airforces.

Now for those of us who like to think that civilians were not targeted by BOTH SIDES during WWII, this may come as a shock, but civilians were considered legitimate targets in WWII.
