Geithner: Jobless rate to stay 'unacceptably high'

Funny how Obama rails against big corporations and claims to be for the people yet the big corporations are the one's surviving this recession and the people get the shaft...

To bad Obama and his fellow Democrats didn't spend as much time on helping the economy as they did getting government run health care to pass. More proof that Obama and his agenda is more important than the country.

Quote from Geitner:
"What happened in our country should never happen again," he said. "People were paid for taking enormous risks. It was a crazy way to run a financial system." Geithner said, "It's the government's job ... to do a better job of restraining that kind of risk-taking."

Translation: The Government should take care of people to dumb to take responsibility for their own decisions.

There's no government run health care in the new law.

And Geithner is talking about regulations on the financial institutions so they can't trade that crap they were trading that caused the economy to fail.

You've got it all wrong dude.

Either you are stoned stupid or a liar.

How will our corps compete in a world economy where other countries corps do not bear the cost of healhtcare?

The countries which insure a healhty workforce and free the corps of the cost will see their corps have an edge in the global market.

And exactly where do you think the money comes from for the "free" healthcare?

There is no such thing as free healthcare. No more than there are free warships and guns.
We pay for it one way or the other. In this case, the other is what we pay, 40% to 50% more than Japan, Germany, or Tawain, and get an inferior product.

Are you defending that?

When you say "WE" you don't mean "WE" cause "WE" don't all pay for anything. ONly 50% of us pay federal income taxes, "WE" lug the rest of your sorry parasitic asses.

In other countries, it comes from the money they aren't spending on military. We spend more on military than all other countries in the world COMBINED.

Fair enough.

So then the debate is whether or not we should be spending as much on our military.

So here is my side, and it is my view, not necessarily the way it must be:

Like it or not, for good or for bad, defense is a need. Furthermore, our position in the world has us very much as a protector of our allies; based on our size and our military strength.

So likely, being at war, whether for defensive purposes or protective purposes is likely at just about any given time. As long as we have those that are dictatorial in positions of authority around the world, such is true (again, as I see it).

Have you watched any of the series "World at War"? In WW11 the amount of civilian lives lost was staggering. There were battles that included 10's of thousands of lives lost. Children, elderly, people on their way to work. Why? Becuase our technology at the time did not help minimize civilian casualties.

Nowadays, we are devastated as a military and as a country if one single innocent life is lost after a mission; thanks to technology.
And we need to continually advance that technology as our enemies and prospective enemies are doing so as well.

So that being said, is it wise to eliminate our military budget?

And since only 50% of us pay federal income tax.. it should be that 50% who decide if we want a good military force.. I vote YES.

Lil money pixies that live in barry's ass, they fly out and sprinkle billions as needed.

Sadly, many truly believe it is as easy as printing up money and that yes, it is the Governments money.

Go figure.
Thats amazing. I just read your post...word for word....over at Hannity's site!

I would like to see that link.
I was banned from Hannity back in January.
Besides, what difference does that make?

Actually, unemployment is a lagging indicator, as we all know.

U.S. Manufacturing Sector Grew In March

NEW YORK (AP) -- The U.S. manufacturing sector expanded in March at its strongest pace in 5 1/2 years, leading the rebound from the recession on growth in exports and inventory rebuilding. Another drop in construction spending in February, however, underscored weakness in real estate.

Meanwhile, the number of people filing first-time claims for unemployment benefits slipped last week as the economy moves closer to generating more jobs.

The Institute for Supply Management, a trade group of purchasing executives, said its gauge of industrial activity rose to 59.6 in March from 56.5 in February. It is the eighth straight month of expansion and the fastest growth since July 2004, when the index was 59.9.

*********

Still, the jobs market is improving. The Labor Department said Thursday that new jobless benefit claims dropped 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 439,000 last week, nearly matching analysts' estimates. It's the fourth drop in five weeks.

The four-week average of claims, which smooths volatility, fell by nearly 7,000 to 447,250, the lowest total since the week of Sept. 13, 2008, just before Lehman Brothers collapsed and the financial crisis intensified.

The report adds to evidence that the job market is slowly healing as the economy improves.

The government is scheduled to release a report on March employment Friday. Economists expect the unemployment rate to stay at 9.7 percent, while employers added 190,000 jobs, the most in three years and only the second gain since the recession began.

Did they just say the collapse started in September of 2008? Hmmm. Obama sworn in Jan 20th, 2009.
Oh, that can't be right.

It will be nice if it picked up the pace a little. No?

From the top 1% who got two tax cuts from Bush during a fucking war. Good, fuck em and pay back dammit.

By the way, what was or is your MOS?

Ahh... an ignorant motherfucker lefty still clinging to their want for selective equality...

Its time to pay this country back for the money they cost us. We paid over a trillion dollars to them during a war. TWICE. Bush was a horrible horrible president. Seriously.

Ignorant...me? No. Selective equality? No. Fair is fair, the rich got tax cuts during a war. Two times. Bush gave them CUTS, its time to pay back.

I for one could care less if their taxes go up for this. Good. You are worried about millionaires paying back some money for this country after they received those tax cuts because Bush said so twice? Then if so, cry me a fucking river and go fuck yourself.
Oh and god bless.

Yeah, funny how it started exactly when it became obvious that Obama was going to be in charge. You don't think people might realize when bad things are coming and act according to that do you? nah!

I didnt pay a cent to anyone. Allowing people to keep their own money doesnt steal anything from me.

Fair would be everyone paying the same rate of taxes. Fair isnt one person paying %50 and one person paying %0.

Who exactly do you think employs the poor? Who exactly will be hiring if you take the money from people who earn it?

0bama can't fix the jobs problem. Small business will fix the jobs problem. That will occur when risking capital seems like a reasonable return on investment and credit is available to do so. 0bama has no understanding of this and even of he did, the Joe Businessman types, aren't in his comfort zone. He can't call them in and berate them or dress them up for a photo op speech at the Rose Garden. These people can't be lied to or made to get all emotional about politics. They run their own numbers and distrust DC.

Post of the week.
The basic issue is that according to Obama EVERY problem can be solved with the right amount of gov't action and/or money.
This is a fallacy.

I don't trust your numbers because you seem to get most of your information from lala land. But let's pretend 50% of Americans don't pay federal income taxes. That must mean 1/2 of our country is living in poverty.

Either that or 1/2 the country is so multi-millionaire rich that they have off shore accounts and loopholes to avoid their taxes.

Both scenerios suck.

And 50% is way exaggerated because less than 1% of Americans are millionaires and 13% are in poverty.
