Some folks think this military-themed Budweiser commercial has a gay vibe, which would put it at odds with most of the brewer's lunk-headedly hetero mass-media advertising. It seems unlikely that any subtle gay subtext was intended. Still, the 60-second spot, from ad agency Anomaly, is open to interpretation. The enlisted guy's homecoming story does focus rather heavily on his clearly close yet undefined relationship with another dude back in the States. Are they significant others, brothers or best friends? Maybe they're best friends with benefits. Isn't that guaranteed by the G.I. Bill of Rights? The absence of bikini-clad babes in a beer commercial is certainly suspicious. Ultimately, his orientation is anybody's guess. But you know what's absolutely gay in this spot? That song on the soundtrack.

What is so gay about this ad? I watched it and I don't see the slightest thing wrong with it? People are so uptight.

That ad wasn't "gay" at all. At the same time, what would it matter? Isn't this America?

Thirdly, Budweiser is a terrible beer.

Beer makes me frisky.....

Vodka

It's a beautiful thing ...
....If you're nostalgic for the 1950s.

I just saw that commercial on tv the other day and loved it. There wasn't anything gay about it. It was a 'heartwarming story-type commercial' about a guy coming home and the Budweiser home coming his family and friends had for him. It was a very good commercial . . .it was one of very, very few commercials that caught my attention and that I actually watched.

Drinking Bud doesn't indicate you're gay.

It merely suggests that you have low taste expectations when it comes to the kind of beer you drink.

Far as I know that's not a sin.
