Gates To Spend Billion Of Own Money For Energy Program

Led by Gates, about 20 private business leaders have signed on to the initiative, making their pledges conditional on governments also pledging more money, said a former U.S. government official who is familiar with the plan.

Conditional on big brother raping the populace for bs projects...cant thank ya enough Bill.....btw how did US meet its Kyoto goals while nobody else has......perhaps thats worth copying eh

The money will be invested in..........capitalistic corporations, which can only lead to thousands of more Laquans.....is that what we want?

Crony capitalist crash and burn thanks for all taxpayer dough though

I think Silicon Valley has driver-less cars close to becoming commercially viable. They will be a game-changer in decreasing fossil fuel consumption. Huge reductions are possible with larger platoons drafting with tighter spacing between vehicles. Driver-less cars connected to the traffic light system could communicate with an upcoming light and have it stay green or change to green, so that you could maintain cruising speed and optimal fuel efficiency. The computer can use hypermiling, which focuses on maximizing fuel efficiency through driving techniques. Hypermiling enthusiasts push the limits of their vehicles’ mpg. For example, one driver on hypermiling site is coaxing more than 86 mpg out of a 1988 Honda Civic, besting its EPA rating by close to 175 percent. This will also greatly increase the range & longevity of batteries in all electric cars.

Today's cars & trucks have self drive parking, auto steering, backup warning, collision avoidance, anti-skid braking & steering, Adaptive Cruise Control, lane-departure warning systems, real time positioning, tracking & communication etc. It's a short gap to download software converting them into self driving or driver-less vehicles that can more than double current MPG's.

We just need to increase the EPA mileage mandate standards to push this technology into the mainstream. Places like China have mileage standards that are 10 MPG higher than ours. This is why the USA can't export our gas guzzlers anywhere.

so here's the bait and switch folks. it's as long as the Guberment promised to use more of our money . and if that isn't enough guess what they'll suggest next? raise them some taxes. but ole Gates will get to beat his chest like an ape pretending he's doing something for all of us

And the laid off truckers will die of starvation and boredom in the brave new world of robots. Fuck dat, yo.

I know, it is good advancement. But those things obey the laws. Can you go back to driving open interstate at 55 or 65 MPH? takes forever to get anywhere.

Most Right Wingers don't understand that most projects which benefit all of America would never get done without government. They think all taxes should be cut and the poor and ordinary should just either move or starve to death.
