Gary Johnson's advice to Republicans

I heard the other day that Gary Johnson is the only one in the race who has net positive poll numbers in his home state.

This should be a warning*** Any time foam at the mouth libs begin pushing a candidate, there's something very wrong.. Do you or any other leftist think you're foolin anyone? Today's liberaltarian is NO DIFFERENT (most anyhow, not all) from you liberals except they believe in less government.. that's it. Conservatives BY IN LARGE do not support the legalization of drugs. End of story..

I want Michele Bachmann to be the nominee.

How the hell is Medicare part D consistant with the 3,000 page monstrosity passed in the middle of the night with coersion and corruption?

That's an excellent point. Libertarians need to get over the delusion that Republicans are sympathetic to their cause. They're not. They don't give a rat's ass about freedom and are as happen to use the nanny state to force their views on others as any big-government socialist. The true libertarians in the Tea Party will bail when they realize this. The rest will skulk back under the neo-con tent and vote for whoever the GOP tells them to.

The original incarnation of the Tea Party, at least in theory, was supposed to welcome Libertarians, and even fiscally conservative Democrats.

That meritorious but naive notion got steamrolled by good old rightwing of the GOP. There is no longer any Tea Party entity that is distinguishable from the traditional same-as-it-ever-was right wing of the Republican Party.

My whole point was your not a goper or interested in their values.

You should have just stated so in the first place, instead of playing your cute little guessing games.

I am not a GOP fan and never claimed to be. The GOP sucks. However, I do support Johnson and Paul (i.e. actual conservatives). Plus, it is a hoot watching you rw kooks get your panties in a bunch over libertarian ideas. It amuses me to great lengths.

I'm hardly the one freakin out. Apparently between you and I, I'm the only one that knows the guys you like have 0 chance of being nominated much less having the chance to be president. Yep, that's right I'm not the least bit concerned. That why my op was the way it was, this thread is a complete joke. And a waste of my time I might add. It's been fun toying with ya, Farewell

Gotta love this shit. Another Republican tearing down an actual fiscal conservative.

:clap2:

Its been answered in post three. Here is a link.
Happy Birthday, Medicare Part D! Now Die! Die! Die! - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

Please tell us how an entitlement to big Pharma is not considered coercions and corruption? Perhaps you will cry more tears in your plea than Billy Tauzin.

Now "entitlements" are evil? Obamacare isn't an entitlement. It isn't even remotely similar to Medicare D. It's a conglomeration of crazy federal laws including, for the first time in history, forcing Americans to purchase a product.

Never before has the House of Representatives operated in such secrecy:

At 2:54 a.m. on a Friday in March, the House cut veterans benefits by three votes.

At 2:39 a.m. on a Friday in April, the House slashed education and health care by five votes.

At 1:56 a.m. on a Friday in May, the House passed the Leave No Millionaire Behind tax-cut bill by a handful of votes.

At 2:33 a.m. on a Friday in June, the House passed the Medicare privatization and prescription drug bill by one vote.

More at the link. Did you know that President Bush threatened to veto the bill if it allowed the program to negotiate with the drug companies?

And those ideas originate with Republicans during the early 1990's.

Plus, why are you against this bill and not Medicare Part D? Why does Medicare Part D have a special place in your heart?

Why are you such an an apologistic hack?

Medicare part D wasn't paid for. In fact it couldn't have passed under PAYGO, the pay-as-you-go law that played a large role in the balancing of the budget in the late nineties.

Bush and the Republican congress let PAYGO expire. That's why I say, don't believe this 'fiscal responsibility' malarkey you hear the GOP spewing nowadays.

Same can be said about the candidates pushed by the rabid right wing knuckleheads.

O.k., now that we've tossed out some nasty labels, applied them with all the efficiency of a shot gun and likened extremes on both sides of the spectrum to diseased dogs while implying that the opposition party is composed of nothing but the extreme, where to from here? :dunno:

Addressing a political discussion with a bunch of meaningless labels is a waste of time and resources. Tell me what you want in a candidate, let's find common ground and take this fucker back from the lobbyists and those who hold their leashes.

AVG-Requirements:

Any candidate that proves she or he understands that the unfair tax code needs to be addressed FIRST in any budget discussion gets my support.

Any candidate that proves she or he understands that regulations and tax codes should be applied fairly and not be used as a tool to squelch the competition for wealthy campaign contributors gets my support.

Any candidate that wants to impose his or her personal or religious beliefs on my personal lifestyle gets :fu:

That would also require disbanding the military. Do you support this?

Not quite sure how you make a connection between those two things.

Personally, I'm in favor of pulling the US Military back inside our borders and turning them into a Defense/Counter-Attack type of force rather than what we have today. I believe that philosophy is much more in line with what the Founders foresaw and what the proper morals and values of this country demand.

I can't speak for anyone else but I do know conservatives in large will never vote for a candidate who wants to legalize drugs.. won't happen.. you can bitch and moan all you like.. Fact remains, that's NOT a conservative issue.

Indeed. I'm not bitching. I just want libertarians to understand that what you say is true. "Real" conservatives are not our friends. As much as I admire Ron Paul's efforts, that's his fatal flaw - his belief that conservatives will support freedom. They won't.

Political Conservative: 'One who wants to preserve the political status quo because the political priorities are just fine and the rivers and streams of cash-flow are flowing just right right where they are, thank you very much.'

We should all be :eusa_pray: to our preferred Deities to one day believe in and proudly become card carrying conservatives in the country of our birth or adoption but is NOW really such a good time?

Do you REALLY think you still have a shot at sipping sherry with the top 5%?

Ground up rebuild of the tax code with an emphasis on SIMPLICITY is long over due.

Simple Taxes = Fair Taxes

If they were working until the wee hours rebuilding the tax code so we could figure out what our economy will actually support when it comes to government responsibilities and investment choices I would applaud.

How many billion$ did we spend at H & R Block last year?!? Just to do the fucking paperwork required to work here?!? :ack-1:

Chumps. Every fucking one of us.

C'mon, y'all! :eusa_angel: They won't stop to visit 'till we stop looking so stupid from space!

However, its more about Obamacare than consistency of principles, right?

Now I get ya. Thanks for explaining.

Yeah, for most of them it's just partisan politics.

I disagree.

Part D was passed only to get votes.

Romneycare was passed because we really do need to reform health care that is nearly 18% of GDP (some estimates have Medicare at a measly 3%).

A single payer program bypassing HC Companies would have been a good start, but Republicans and conservative never would let that happen. How many policies have to be "skimmed" to make a single $100,000,000.00 CEO paycheck?

How could this happen?

The Republican Party is 90% white and they hate Obama with an unexplained passion we haven't seen in decades.

The Democratic Party is "everyone else" and that works as a "check" on the party's greediest members. In fact, if they get too frustrated, they quit and join the Republican Party where greed is "welcomed" and "encouraged".

If you are gonna go after Obamacare, then you should also fervently go after the gigantic entitlement (to big Pharma) that you passed under Bush in 2003, called Medicare Part D.

Its not about consistency or principles, is it?

I don't like the GOP, but Medicare Part D is tremendously helpful to patients.

Most people simply can't afford their medications.

The "Big Pharma" conspiracy theories are a little bit silly. Pharmaceutical companies are a little bit like defense companies. Everyone loves to hate them, but a pragmatic person realizes they are needed.

What part of "Pay to the order of GlaxoSmithKline" on a US Treasury check and funding it with a Chinese VISA card is tough to understand?

Face it. If PAYGO had not been allowed to expire and Bush and The Good Ol' Boys of the Class of '03 had been required to fund Medicare D, and that ginormous tax cut, and the waste of resources blowing shit up in Iraq with cuts in spending or new taxes elsewhere, America's house would be in order now.

Bush and the class of '03 opened up the flood-gates and instead of "changing the fundamental way Washington does business" Obama and the classes of '09 going forward are joyfully pissing in the pond and laughing all the way to the bank that services the campaign contribution account.

The difference between a Republican and a Democrat? 5 lbs. and a mustache.

 You have me laughing at the joke but far to many are still buying in to this kind of partisan bullshit and that's not funny.

:eusa_eh:

Quite the conundrum.

I said the concept was good, not necessarily how it was funded.
