Very refreshing. A Republican that refuses to lie for Romney.

Gary Herbert, Utah Governor, Won't Endorse Romney Claim That Obama Is Gutting Welfare Reform

One of the Republican governors who sought waivers to welfare's work requirements said Monday he doesn't like the way the Obama administration is trying to grant that request, but Utah Gov. Gary Herbert declined to endorse Mitt Romney's claim that the initiative guts the 1996 welfare reform.

"The idea of flexibility is something that all states want to have," Herbert told The Huffington Post.

The current administration has been been remarkably good at striking a balance between dedication to state flexibility and responsible stewardship of federal resources.

They've taken the idea of forging collaborative relationships with states to meet state-level challenges (and encouraging state-level innovation) to new heights. Is it surprising that the Romney campaign would distort that and attempt to pretend it's a bad thing? Sadly, no.

Smart Gov! He wants the waiver for his state!

Especially since Romney requested that Bill Frist add the waiver clause into the reauthorization.

Except, of course, Romney is telling the truth.

Do you really have to force yourself to believe that to justify your vote for him? Or do you know better and believe that somehow, some way a "persuadable" voter might happen upon this thread?

I don't get it. What's your angle?

None of the above. She is just an idiot. The angles are not very sharp.
