Carter always had so much enthusiasm when he played. Some resented it, but that was the way he was. Carter was a clutch hitter and great defensive catcher.

I never understood why Gary Carter got such a bad rap. He gave his all while he was playing, helped his community and never did anything to hurt the game

Yet he was criticized by players and fans for his enthusiasm and zeal for the game
