We had a booming economy and a budget surplus when W took office, thanks to Newt Gingrich and "trickle down" as you call it, cutting spending and taxes.

When W took over, spending started up again, including massive spending on "low income housing." Even that wasn't enough. Then we had FRANKLIN RAINES and others GUARANTEE MORTGAGES of homebuyers who could not pay.... and in the end

Franklin Raines got hundreds of millions
the US taxpayer got stuck for two trillion

and your side still argues it was because there wasn't enough government involvement, when, in fact, housing never blew up like that prior to the GUARANTEE OF THE MORTGAGES BY THE TAXPAYER.

I've only been there once back in '08 for 2 weeks
but one of my brothers is a retired Marine there.

He lives on the Big Island and flies to his shop in Honolulu every week
