- The prediction of the unemployment rate dropping to 8% was made by his economic team BEFORE he became president. Obama himself predicted that the unemployment rate would reach 10%
- Created an Advanced Manufacturing Fund to invest in peer-reviewed manufacturing processes
- He lowered taxes for the middle class.
- The auto bailout was a huge success
- The bank bailouts have been mostly repaid
ObamaCare
- The CBO projected that ObamaCare would reduce the deficit, not increase it.
- The individual mandate was originally not Obama's idea. The Heritage Foundation, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney all supported the idea.
- It does not have a public option; it gives a huge new client base to the drug and insurance companies; its health-insurance exchanges were also pioneered by the right
- It needs improvement in many ways, but the administration is open to further reform and has agreed to allow states to experiment in different ways to achieve the same results
- It sets standards, grants incentives, and then allows individual states to experiment. Embedded in it are also a slew of cost-reduction schemes to slow health-care spending.
Foreign Policy
- Obama ignored the wishes of both Biden and Clinton by ordering the raid on bin Laden. He also ordered extra helicopters which proved to be vital for the mission's success. Because of the intelligence gathered from that mission, Al Qaeda is now running scared.
- Since he took office, al Qaeda’s popularity in the Muslim world has plummeted.
- He ended the war in Iraq
