Once again, Obama has done an end run around Congress. It would seem that Obama has forgotten that we have three branches of government.
*****************************************************

President Barack Obama has signed a waiver to remove curbs on funding to the Palestinian Authority, declaring the aid to be “important to the security interests of the United States.”

A $192 million aid package was frozen by the US Congress after the Palestinians moved to gain statehood at the United Nations last September.

But in a memo sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, published by the White House, the president said it was appropriate to release funds to the authority, which administers the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In signing the waiver, Obama instructed Clinton to inform Congress of the move, on the grounds that “waiving such prohibition is important to the national security interests of the United States.”

Congress deliberately froze those funds, and not just because of the statehood demand through UNESCO. Hamas, a terrorist organization, reconciled with Fatah and has rejoined the PA, which means we’re putting almost $200 million into the hands of a terrorist organization. The language of the Palestinian Accountability Act could not be clearer: “[N]o funds available to any United States Government department or agency … may be obligated or expended with respect to providing funds to the Palestinian Authority.” Obama literally waived that statutory language off yesterday afternoon.

The Palestinian authority isn't a terrorist organization, funds were frozen because the Authority moved for statehood. Another far right freak out........................:doubt:

Did it occur to you that Congress is responsible for allocating money not the Whitehouse? Once again, we see Obama trying to play king.

Ummmm, since we have a rather idiotic policy of bribing Israel's neighbors to play nice, you have to occassionally give then the bribe when they play nice.

I'm all for cutting off all aid to all of them, including Israel, personally, we're broke.

Baksheesh (from Persian: بخشش* bakhshesh[1]) is a term used to describe tipping, charitable giving, and certain forms of political corruption and bribery in the Middle East and South Asia. Leo Deuel[who?] sardonically described baksheesh as "lavish remuneration and bribes, rudely demanded but ever so graciously accepted by the natives in return for little or no services rendered.

The left has indicated in no uncertain terms that they have no problem whatsoever with Obama becoming a dictator.

Some are encouraging it. The enemy is within.

Hussein hates him some Jooooooooossss.

Obama's version of the Middle East clearly aims to install the Hamas Charter which vows to wipe Jews off the face of the earth.

Man he hates Israel.

Sure seems you're right...

" The Reverend Jesse Jackson, an Obama supporter and himself a former presidential candidate, had some alarming things to say about "Zionists" and how they would be treated in a future Obama administration, according to Amir Taheri at the New York Post.
Jackson conveyed his vision of how an Obama Administration would approach foreign policy at the first World Policy Forum, held at Evian, France. "Jackson believes that, although 'Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades' remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House." By "Zionists" it is supposed that Jesse Jackson means "Jews.""

Incorrect.

They just want to dismantle the terrorist state called Israel.

The Jews can still live there; but not rule.

I beg to differ Sunni Man. The Charter clearly states the intention of Hamas. There's no grey and there is no wiggle room for a different interpretation of what is in the Charter.

One of the keys is in this Hadith aka in the western world as "fine print" but a tad harsher than what you'd find in a lease deal on a car.

Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Palestinian officials are rolling out the welcome mat for Jews to come to a new Palestinian state.

Trying to tamp down a controversy over whether a Palestinian state would be Jew-free, Mahmoud Habbash, the Palestinian minister of religious affairs, said a future state would be open to people of all religions, including Jews.

“The future Palestinian state will be open to all its citizens, regardless of their religion,” Habbash said, according to USA Today. “We want a civil state, which in it live all the faiths, Muslim, Christian and Jews also if they agree, (and) accept to be Palestinian citizens.”

He was allocating frozen money. That's an executive decision. Don't see where he appropriating new funds.

You seem to disagree with the PLO Covenant (Charter). Here are few articles in that document. No where is there any mention of a 'two state solution.' Only a one state Palestine, and the elimination of the state of Israel.

Article 19: The partition of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of the state of Israel are entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time, because they were contrary to the will of the Palestinian people and to their natural right in their homeland, and inconsistent with the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, particularly the right to self-determination.

Article 20: The Balfour Declaration, the Mandate for Palestine, and everything that has been based upon them, are deemed null and void. Claims of historical or religious ties of Jews with Palestine are incompatible with the facts of history and the true conception of what constitutes statehood. Judaism, being a religion, is not an independent nationality. Nor do Jews constitute a single nation with an identity of its own; they are citizens of the states to which they belong.

Article 21: The Arab Palestinian people, expressing themselves by the armed Palestinian revolution, reject all solutions which are substitutes for the total liberation of Palestine and reject all proposals aiming at the liquidation of the Palestinian problem, or its internationalization.

Article 29:The Palestinian people possess the fundamental and genuine legal right to liberate and retrieve their homeland. The Palestinian people determine their attitude toward all states and forces on the basis of the stands they adopt vis-a-vis to the Palestinian revolution to fulfill the aims of the Palestinian people.

Article 33:This Charter shall not be amended save by [vote of] a majority of two-thirds of the total membership of the National Congress of the Palestine Liberation Organization [taken] at a special session convened for that purpose.

The Palestinian National Council (PNC) finally did convene on 24 April 1996 and passed a resolution in which it “amended by canceling the articles that are contrary to the letters exchanged between the PLO and the Government of Israel” and assigned to a legal committee the task of redrafting the charter within six months. [Amendment Palestinian Covenant-Arafat Letter & Text - 4 May 1996, Information Division, Israel Foreign Ministry.] As of yet no so such body has fulfilled this task, and there have been no reports of such a committee meeting or working.

Words are meaningless and until the elimination of Israel is put in writing, the intent of the Palestinian leadership should be apparent to the most casual observer.

Elimination of the state of Israel does not mean elimination of the Jews.

As long as they are peaceful and renounce terrorism.

Jews will be welcomes as citizens in the New Palestine.

No doubt you believe the same thing about the US.

Jimmy Carter was the last president to negotiate with terrorists. I have said for 4 years now that Obama reminds me most of Carter. So far nothing has happened to change that.
