Where ever I go, there I am.
SANTA ISABEL DE LAS LAJAS, Cuba (AP) — On sleepy streets plied by rickety horse-drawn carts and rusting 1950s automobiles, the sounds of commerce are once again being heard in Cuba's countryside.
A private sandwich shop has opened in a town previously served only by a grim state-run cafeteria. A woman sells trinkets from a small spot of shade. A weathered farmer in dusty jeans has rigged up an ancient ice cream machine and is selling cones for 8 cents a pop.
Out of sight of Cuba's dollar-spending tourists, in areas where money from overseas relatives trickles in only sporadically, dusty towns like this one slowly are being revitalized by a series of private enterprise initiatives ushered in by President Raul Castro.

So tell me liberals; Why would you support a move to socialism, when Cuba, CUBA, of all places is moving away and starting to thrive under the FREE MARKET.

Guess those filthy capitalist don't understand what the Pee Party is all about in America.

Quick, call your unions and go help those people.

If only the American Left was as freedom loving as these Cubans!

If only!

Whoddathunk that people living for decades under harsh socialism would embrace freedom so naturally?

You have to admire how thoroughly sabotaged our educational system is, American Progressive still believe that Socialism works. Putin must laugh himself to sleep at night

Gosh..what do you mean by support? I support the people of each nation to come up with thier own governments.

You don't?

This is good news. I hope relations between Cuba and the United States improve and I can get to see where my Grandfather was born.

Just think what this country could get done if we didnt have these crazy cons running arround calling half of the country names that dont apply.

Some Americans care so very little for this country that they intentionally try very hard to split this country in two by repeteing idiot lies designed to keep us from coming together.

We are a Democracy and a capitalistic country.

We will always be a Democracy and a caplitalistic country.

Idiots lying about the American people and what they want for this country will not change that.

The lies do made it harder and harder to keep us a well functioning Capitalistic Democracy though

I truly hope that you get to visit very soon.

However, you must realize that the progressive movement of a vast and powerful central government, that chokes out free trade is what they are moving us twards.

We are and always have been a Republic. "And to the Republic for which it stands...."

ring a bell?

And fyi; we are not the people fomenting false class warfare, we did not call people "astro-turphers", or "tea baggers". That was liars and scum, from the left, such as yourself.

your lack of IQ allows you to think that you don't fully support us going to what Cuba was, while Cuba is moving to what we were.

That's for the Cubans to decide. Bastista was an abomination. His fascist kleptocracy kept the Cubans uneducated and subject to the whims of the American Mafia.

All brought to Cuba by the United States.

A republic is a type of democracy.

Why do you not know that cold hard fact?

Your argument is not with me but with every dictionary and encyclopedia in the world

If you want to know something about the Cuban people, head for Miami.
Go the the Versailles Bakery and Restaurant on SW 8th Ave at about 36th St. Talk to people. They may be conversing in Spanish, but 99% speak English and love to talk politics.
Any evening at the outside coffee counter will be groups of people sharing strong sweet Cuban coffee and talking US and Cuban politics and maybe a man with a guitar playing and singing songs from home.
They are proud, hard working people who fled a tyrannical government and become successful in their adopted home. They own restaurants, car dealerships, furniture stores hotels, are cops, firemen, doctors and lawyers
If you can, stop by in the weeks before election day. 90% of them will be sporting GOP campaign buttons and many of them can be found at TEA Party rallies as well.

Centralized socialism, like laissez-faire capitalism, works well to industrialize a country but not to sustain prosperity. Castro's Communist regime was a great step up from the cronyism and brutality of Batista, but if Cuba is now moving into loosening control over the economy, that is a step in the right direction and a sign that socialism has pretty much done its work.

We should of course expect Cuba to remain economically liberal and progressive, just like China and Vietnam, while moderating the extremes of a planned economy. This is hardly the tribute to their misguided ideas that the right may think.
