Free Educations for All

I don't even understand the psychology behind "free."

Nothing is free, someone has to work for something...

These bitch-made-motherfuckers may as well demand individuals hand-feed them baby food.
it's the same psychology that says that meat comes from the store.

yes... this is true, but they never bother to question HOW the store gets their meat.

Oh from trucks?

And where do trucks get their meant?

Ummmmm I dunno. This is now boring, can we leave it at that?

Lack of intellectual curiosity and the intestinal fortitude to handle unpleasant truths about the where and why-fors of the world that fuck with their pure paper idealism.

It would be different if free education really did produce an educated populace. Obviously it doesn't. We have high school graduates who think they have a decent education when they don't. They have a piece of paper. We have unemployable and uneducated college graduates who think they have an education when they dont. They have a piece of paper. If the current trend in free education continues we can save a lot of money just by giving them the piece of paper.

No matter how much worthless free education we hand out, once these poorly prepared students go out into the world with their worthless piece of paper they must compete with adults from all over the world who have real educations. I don't blame these students for being upset with a system that basically gave them a free ride all their lives only to find that there is no payoff at the end and will never be a payoff at the end.

Name the "free" education we're handing out? As far as I know, there is none. It is paid for by you and I save for college scholarships and the limited federal grants that are available.

All is to be paid for or paid back in the forms of taxes and loans.

What is needed is tougher accreditation, real life courses, more vocational education, more advanced training in the trades; re-engineering the study calendar to coincide with the real world, and better pay for teachers.

What isn't needed is the brainless bantering of "free ride" when few (if any) are getting the free ride and persons like yourself calling high school graduate's educational accomplishments "worthless" because theymost certainly are not. By the same token, they are not as good as they should be however.

Sending more persons to college and paying for their advanced training upfront is a brilliant idea that makes sense from every possible angle except the ones that originate in fear and dreading that it may cost a little bit of money.

David Mamet's "The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of American Culture." He tells of a time that his daughter had befriended a young heiress her age, and she was visiting:

The two were discussing their various bedtimes. And the heiress said that every evening, at ten o'clock, she went to the small refrigerator in her room, and took out her usual snack: fresh berries and organic yogurt dripped with honey.
My daughter asked, "Who puts it there?" The heiress paused for a while and said "...I don't know."

Mamet goes on to relate the heiress to today’s Liberals. The same lack of comprehension: someone must make the money; someone must provide the goods and services we all enjoy; someone must look ahead and foresee consequences, be inspired to create.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to PoliticalChic again.

Oh yeah.

All this playing around with the meaning of the word "free" is of course a straw man, apropos of nothing. Anyone advocating "free" college education is advocating college education that we all pay for collectively, and that is "free" only in the sense that the student does not pay tuition. What's more, anyone advocating "free" college education knows that perfectly well, and so pointing out that it isn't really "free" in the sense of NOBODY paying for it might make you feel better, but it's not going to accomplish anything else at all.

Well, if it were directed at me, I describe how I'd pay for it. I'd even be comfortable with withholding + a small percentage to create a buffer against rising costs in the future. We get skilled workers today and the future generations receive an entree to college or trade school guaranteed with no oppressive loan to repay at the end of the game.

When those with really really good incomes developed a healthy desire not to hang from lampposts.

So you believe in the law of the jungle? Is that what you're saying? People deserve to take what others have if they can get a sufficiently large mob to go along with them?

Is this the superior "civilized" moral code of the leftwinger?

Fuck civilized.

The oppressed have the right to throw off their bonds. Period.

Or don't you believe we had the right to remove ourselves from English rule?

Lynching people because they make more than you do is "throwing off your chains?"

Since when?

That's pure thuggery. It has nothing to do with oppression of any sort.

And you endorse it.

Shouldnt it though.....................Pre-school, education, food, medical care, housing, employment, and retirement too........these are basic human rights !!!

Where do they say anything about housing and food?

I'm confused.

You seem to be reading a lot more than is there.

A state college education is already de-facto free for thousands upon thousands of students nation wide. its funny but I didn't hear you complaining when Louisiana passed a law giving all high school graduates above a certain GPA a free ride at state colleges -or when the many other states with similar laws did this. You only complain when the students themselves in a state that does not offer this advantage ask for it.

interesting.....

And these decisions should be made by the individual state.
If one doesn't like what their state does or does not provide, they can bring a vote to change it or change states.

:eusa_shhh:

Actually, if we expect people to get an education to prepare our work force, and if we make obtaining a good income contingent on having a good education, then education should be free. There's no getting around that.

First college used to be for people who wanted and needed to be there, like doctors and lawyers, not to spew out history and psycology majors to indoctrinate people and enrich people they cant hack it in the business world.

Second why stop at education, why have money? why not just have no job, we just do whatever we want, stuff will really get done then!!! Funny how liberals believe in evolution, yet dont see social evolution has already passed the commie, socialism stage because it doesnt work.
