France has unilaterally sent forces into war-torn Mali with the intent of defending democracy there. In fighting so far, they have been very successful with a minimum of casualties.

It seems popular among ill-informed people that France and the French are somehow cowards. Nothing could be further from the truth.

You are the one who is "ill-informed", and you need to read more about this situation. The United States is helping the French out with intelligence information, logistics, and other areas of expertise.

The French are like the "keystone cops" of all things military.

France's plan for the Malis (?) is simple, to overwhelm them bureaucratically by pulling off a strategic surrender prior to the onset of further hostilities. That would seem to be the quickest route for them to resume their place in the world hierarchy of irrelevancy.

France decided on its own to go. It is now being helped by many countries.
Anyone who calls them the keystone cops is ill-informed. Has it been forgotten, for example, how they saved the hostages and took out the terrorists on the plane in Toulouse, how they protected the American flank in the 'end run' in the first Gulf War, how they handled the situation in the Yugoslav disintegration?

Keep your knee-jerk reactions to yourself.

Talk about irrelevant!

What are the top two natural resources in Mali?

1. Salt
2. Gold

Which one do you think the French are going to War for? Hmmm. :eusa_think:

"Nothing"?

The way the US went to war for oil?

We did not do that.

The poster was accusing France of duplicity. Turning it on the poster was thought to make the person think, not a statement of fact (though it may be).

By the way, who is 'we'? I certainly didn't do it. I wouldn't have invaded Iraq.

But this is about France and Mali.

Mali is a former French colony that France still exploits for it's natural resources.

The Mali people want the French to get out and stay out.

The so called terrorists are just Mali patriots trying take back their country from the foreign occupiers.

Where can we begin to explain how wrong such thinking is?

Look Sunni man supports terrorists and Taliban practices, Remind us again how you support the Constitution in the US and don't want the Taliban here.

The US supports Al Qaida in Libya AND Syria. If you're going to attack Sunni Man for "supporting terrorists" then you should attack the US as well.

Didn't the surrender monkeys criticize the US for sending forces to war-torn Vietnam with the intent of defending democracy?

In the 1950's the French were finally defeated in a small asian country called Vietnam.

So we stepped in to continue their colonial occupation and prop up the French puppet dictator government.

And we all know how that turned out.

Now are you suggesting we repeat this same historical disaster in Mali ??
