Fracking Babies (To Death)

Is actually an enormous list. Here! Inform yourself!

The information here is based on chemicals used in drilling a natural gas well, Crosby 25-3, in Park County, Wyoming. Natural gas, petroleum condensate, and drilling fluids were accidentally released from the ground adjacent to the well due to a breach in the surface casing. This occured over a period of about 58 hours between August 11 and 13th, 2006.

Chemicals The Endocrine Disruption Exchange

So these are only found in fracking fluids? and this one breach means every other pipe breaches?
No, at the current rate, they will be found throughout our environment

All well casings eventually breach.

Chicken little fear mongering, nothing more, nothing less.
Fracking companies have what is called "the Haliburton Loophole" to the Clean Water Act of 2005. They can do whatever they want. Cheney taking care of his cronies. See how deregulation works?

No they can't and Cheney sold off his interests in Halliburton prior to the '03 Iraq invasion.
Cheny received $34m from his retirement and stock options.

Chris Matthews says Cheney got 34 million payday from Halliburton PolitiFact

Not bad for 5 years of employment, especially considering how poorly the company did under his leadership.

Perhaps a quid pro quo was expected during his upcoming term? When you add the Iraq no bid contracts to the fracking loophole, it certainly appears they got it.

In 2005 the Bush administration and Congress passed the "Halliburton loophole," which exempts hydraulic fracturing from Safe Drinking Water Act. Legislation also exempted the practice, used in 90 percent of U.S. natural gas wells, from the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act.

A 2011 congressional report on the chemicals used in hydraulic fracking, states that the 14 leading hydraulic fracturing companies in the U.S. injected 10.2 million gallons of more than 650 products that contained chemicals that are known or possible human carcinogens, regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act, or listed as hazardous air pollutants.

Republicans are such hypocrites, they get all pissy about the politics of a woman's right to choose, but support and defend Fracking Babies (To Death) without holding their representatives feet to the fire (so to speak).

Fracking Linked to Increased Infant Mortality in Alarming New Study

Pennsylvania has issued more than 10,000 drilling permits over the past decade. Infants and children may be paying a heavy price.

A new study has linked fracking to a higher incidence in infant mortality, perinatal mortality, low-weight births, premature births and cancer in infants and children.

Funded by the Pittsburgh Foundation and written by Joe Mangano, co-founder and president of the Radiation and Public Health Project, a nonprofit educational and scientific organization that studies the relationship between low-level, nuclear radiation and public health, the study used data from state agencies to examine eight heavily fracked counties in Pennsylvania — four in the northeast and four in the southwest region of the state, counties that account for the majority of the state's natural gas drill wells and gas production. In all categories but child cancer, increases were greater in the northeast counties than they were in the four southwest counties.

Analyzing publicly available data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mangano found that, since the early 2000s and compared to the rest of the state, the heavily-fracked counties have seen a rise in infant mortality (13.9 percent), perinatal mortality (23.6 percent), low-weight births (3.4 percent), premature births/gestation less than 32 weeks (12.4 percent) and cancer incidence in age 0-4 (35.1 percent).

In the most comprehensive study of the subject ever conducted, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection found that there is no concern of radiation exposure from fracking wells for oil or gas (PA DEP News Release).

The Fracking Solution Is A Good Cement Job - Forbes

You're welcome.

What is it about cementing fracked up wells that makes you think it's a comprehensive study about birth defects and infant mortality near fracked up sites?

This [below] is the first published peer reviewed study realistically examining whether people living near sites where fracking has occurred are experiencing more health impacts. The fact that it found a statistically significant association is very worrisome, especially in combination with early reports of similar findings from a study in Pennsylvania.

Is fracking pollution deforming babies?

By John Upton on 5 Feb 2014
When frackers operate, they produce pollution that’s been linked to birth defects — volatile organic compounds, benzene, nitrogen oxides, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, among other nasties.

And now new research has found higher incidences of birth defects in babies born near some fracking areas.

The Colorado School of Public Health funded research by university and state scientists that looked for any correlations between fracking operations and nearby rates of congenital heart defects, neural tube defects, and oral clefts. The researchers analyzed 124,842 births between 1996 and 2009 in rural Colorado and compared them with locations of known fracking wells.

The results, published late last month by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, suggest that being pregnant near a fracking site is a bad idea.

“[W]e observed an association between density and proximity of natural gas wells within a 10-mile radius of maternal residence and prevalence of CHD [congenital heart defects] and possibly NTD [neural tube defects],” the scientists concluded in their paper.

Mothers who lived near fracking hotspots with the most wells were twice as likely to give birth to a baby with a neural tube defect as were those who lived at least 10 miles from the nearest well. Those same mothers were 30 percent more likely to bear a child with a congenital heart defect. Such birth defects are leading causes of infant mortality.

The research revealed a correlation between fracking operations and birth defects, but stopped short of concluding that the frackers are actually causing the health problems. Still, this aligns with previous findings by other scientists, like research we told you about last month, which found that babies born near fracking sites in Pennsylvania were more likely than others to have a range of health problems.

What do you think this excerpt from your link on cementing means?

"Cementing is an essential activity in drilling a well, usually coming at the end of operations and at the time that everything is wrapping up and everyone’s wanting to move on to the next well. As such, it’s sometimes botched. A lot more time and money is then spent fixing it, or worse, recovering from a horrible aftermath."
