lol..in 2008 :p

But underlying all this is the paradox of our political era. Just four years ago, when not one but two oilmen, Dick Cheney and George W. Bush, ran the country, gasoline prices surged to their highest level since 1972 — $4.27 in July 2008.

Back then, of course, Fox News pushed the opposite narrative, as the video above from Media Matters shows, that the president, and politicians in general, had absolutely no control over the price of gasoline. In fact, Bill O’Reilly sounded like a bona fide treehugger:

BILL O’REILLY: Next time you hear a politician say he or she will bring down oil prices understand it’s complete [bullshit]. Americans want lower gas prices — cut back. Sell those SUVs. Ride a bike when you can. If every one of us bought 10 percent less gasoline, prices would fall fast. That’s what the candidates should be saying. We need a strong leader who’s honest, smart, courageous and willing to explain dubious associations. That’s what we need.

Fox News Schools Its Viewers: Rising Price of Gas Not the President’s Fault Pensito Review

Another scoop for tax exempt Media Matters? They sure are busy with hiring sleazy investigators to spy on republican politicians, advising the president and writing scripts for the left wing drivel they call news shows. Gas prices also came down during the Bush administration. The Bush administration tried to do something about instead of whining and blaming someone else and subsidizing junk that nobody wants to drive. When Barry Hussein took office a gallon of gas was around $1.80 and he apparently has no plans to give Americans a break.

Step one: attack the messenger

Gas prices also came down during the Bush administration. The Bush administration tried to do something about instead of whining and blaming someone else and subsidizing junk that nobody wants to drive.

Step two: deflect by introducing irrelevant and entire specious issues into the discussion

When Barry Hussein took office a gallon of gas was around $1.80 and he apparently has no plans to give Americans a break.

Step three: Conclude with a pronouncement based on non sequiter thinking.

Very effective blather generation, Whitehall.

Lots of words n' stuff

Oh brother..

Fox news schools it's viewers....how cute..

Still didn't stop the Democrats from trying to blame Bush now DID IT..

the boyking President is going to be held responsible so deal with it.

Bush invasion of Iraq did really have something to do with the spike in gas prices. So does Obama's saber rattling at Iran. But both are pretty minor in comparison to speculation and competing markets.

Of course that's something a little above your head.

If Obama wants something he gets it.

He doesn't want the price of gas to go back down.

WTF? Where's any semblance of logic in that tin foil idea? The only thing that will bring the price of oil down is stability in oil producing countries and/or a significant drop in world demand. When did the right wing ever support reducing consumption? Do you think we should nationalize our oil companies, or write laws to prohibit speculation in the open market?

well after having all those anime I just got one thing say that does Obama's saber rattling at Iran. But both are pretty minor in comparison to speculation and competing markets.

Yeah, he's just doing what Obama does......and you actually think you're making a point.

Just as with Bush, Obama has little control over gas prices, but that didn't stop the Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats from blaming Bush and spewing their hatred for Bush.

So I am loving this, scream all you want but Obama is going to take the blame for this and all I can do is laugh my ass off. What goes around, comes around, enjoy the party you created, you whiney, crying liberals.

Demand is down & prices are going up. Government raised your gas taxes at the pump at the first of the year.
