Scapegoat? Maybe.

Palin 2012? I'm not so sure anymore. Can't blame the liberal media this time.

wow, just wow.

She sounds like a mom with young kids. If you are going to try to be a mom and a national figure at the same time, something has got to give. I thought it would be her parenting. If she was throwing tantruims and refusing prep on interviews, maybe it was a little bit of each.

My tantrums correspond directly with my kids' behavior. :)

I clearly stated in a post, immediately after the first time I heard Sarah Palin Speak, that she was a BIMBO. All the Republicans jumped on me for it, calling me sexist etc....

I've dated bimbos. I know a bimbo when I see one. Not all beautiful women are bimbos, but Sarah Palin is a bimbo.

She is a very nice lady, but she was not by a long shot Vice-Presidential material.

I was watching O'Reilly tonight, and that's what they reported. They also said she didn't know which countries were a part of NAFTA.

WHAT??? Come on! Doesn't everyone remember Dana Carvey as George HW Bush on SNL talking about giving American jobs to Mexicans because of NAFTA?? How the hell do you "border Canada" and not know what NAFTA is?? Oh my god. Oh my god. I have to piss now. This is HILARIOUS.

FOX NEWS: Palin didn't know Africa was a continent, she thought it was a country

Smith: Now that the election is over, Carl, tell us more about those reports of infighting between Palin and McCain staffers.

Cameron: I wish I could have told you more at the time but all of it was put off the record until after the election. There was great concern in the McCain campaign that Sarah Palin lack the degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, and a heartbeat away from the presidency. We're told by folks that she didn't know what countries that were in NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, that being the Canada, the US, and Mexico. We're told she didn't understand that Africa was a continent rather than a country just in itself ... a whole host of questions that caused serious problems about her knowledgeability. She got very angry at staff, thought that she was mishandled.....was particularly angry about the way the Katie Couric interview went. She didn't accept preparation for that interview when the aides say that that was part of the problem. And that there were times that she was hard to control emotionally there's talk of temper tantrums at bad news clippings......

Notwithstanding that there is to be an avalanche that will continue for many days now we're told of story upon story of the foibles of Sarah Palin.

My bullshit meter is pegging out.

I'm not buying this. There's two things I know....

Fox News lies.

And Republicans are willing to smear and discredit their own, when it suits their purpose. Hello? Colin Powell?

I'll tell you what this is....some bitter and (now) unemployed McCain campaign staff trying to smear Palin, totally discredit her, and divert blame onto her.

I don't believe for a second a college graduate and Governor of a state thinks Africa is a "country".

C'mon man, republican lies are so transparent, this is obviously a smear.

Fair points RD. I wonder if some insiders are trying to get in early with the smear and destroy any chance she has in national as opposed to state politics. Fox, as the GOP mouthpiece, would do the bidding of the GOP insiders I suspect.

Anyway, might not be a bad thing. I can't see the woman as ever being ready for the top position or even the second one.

how can they be critical of what she knew and when....when they should have known that long before they put her out there....she will be tossed to the wolves now...

i was told= hearsay

enjoy it.

the problem is that if it's not true, it almost should be. that's what the press does, it likes things that fit its narrative on the person. more troubling, though, don't you think, assuming they aren't lying about repubs over at fox news, that maybe that information was important BEFORE election day? And, if the "sources" aren't good ones, and the story isn't true, I'm not sure I understand the point of trying to trash her after the fact when the whole thing is done anyway.

Silly me, I thought the fourth estate was supposed to give us information on which to make informed decisions, not act as a gossip column and trashmouth people when the information no longer matters.

There were rumors long before the Couric interview even that McCain campaign aides intended to use her as the scapegoat in the event he lost. It sounds to me as if they went a little overboard in doing so though. Give me a break. Show me any college graduate who doesn't know Africa is a continent -much less ANY governor in this country who doesn't know it.

really? they were going to scapegoat her even before the couric interview?

i don't believe that for a second. if you have a source, link one. and mccain knew what his internal polls were showing about her. if he thought she was going to cost him the election, rather than bring in "the base", she'd have found a "reason" to withdraw as VP.

But he used her to bring in that base... they came out for him. The problem was, this wasn't a "base" election. McCain misjudged... she did what she was brought in to do.

Remember what Deep Throat said: "Follow the money".

In this case: "Follow the politician".

Odds are these anonymous sources are former campaign workers for either Romeny or Huckabee.

Palin had a press conference in Anchorage late last night. She handled herself with class and optimism. She will be a force to reckon with.

Good points.

I'm reluctant to think she really is this dumb. I've never met a college educated person with a highly responsible professional job who thought Africa was a "country". Its almost too frightening to contemplate.

If it is true, McCain should have gracefully found a way to get her off the ticket, because it would be borderline treason to intentionally select someone this dumb to be a potential president.
