Fox News had 14 of the 15 most-watched programs in cable news in January 2017...

Just in case anyone had any doubts about what network is most trusted and viewed. Trumps attacks on CNN and other liberal networks can't be hurting, in fact, his attacks are probably a boon to Fox News:

Top Cable News Programs of January 2017

Fox News had 14 of the 15 most-watched programs in cable news in total viewers and 8 out of the top 10 programs in A25-54. The O’Reilly Factor was the most-watched cable news program of the month with 3.96 million total viewers.

The reality is that the right watch Fox because they're easy sheep, whereas the left have many different channels because people on the left are more likely to shop around.

Old retired White people sit around and watch FOX, while others are actually out doing things.

This includes "other things" like smashing windows, rioting, attacking police and macing those expressing their support for the president.
Yes, those would be included. What is your point?

I think you just made it for me without trying to...

It was not an accident.

THe behavior of the media disproves that.

By the simple act of NOT being lefty, Fox has won the ratings, and thus money game.

And yet, the rest of the industry can't or won't try to compete for those vast numbers of viewers.

If it were just about money, the others would be fighting for some of those ratings.

See how I did that? How I used the facts to bolster my case? How my explanation explains the known facts?

SOmething you have not done with your conspiracy theory.

They are in the business of selling viewers to advertisers. You seem to have a problem with any and everything that doesn't look the way or sound the way you want it to. Unfortunately for you, that is life. Fox and MSNBC for example push the exact same perceptual reality. They merely target different partisanshithead demographics, but they both push division, anxiety, faux rage, mass consumption, fear of the other, and division amongst the masses for the benefit of the corporate state, Wall Street, the “job creator” class and the endless war machine.

Yet, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, just let Fox have all those viewers who want a pro-republican slant.

That disproves your claim. They are NOT going after the money.
utter nonsense. Aside from the reality that they're businesses, which means they're in it for the money, network news caters to mainstream America. They blow away Fox in viewership and don't need to cater to the fringe.

If you want to compare results of business models, you should compare Fox to CNN, instead of to BROADCtAST news.

My point stands. the network news puts out crap and don't even try to appeal to the massive underserved audience that Fox has shown in there.
Your point is absurd since network news blows away Fox, despite your hollow claims they put out crap. The only comparison between Fox and other cable news channels is that they're dealing with news 24/7. Still, when people want news on TV, the vast majority are tuning into network channels.

And if one of the big three decided to start trying to attract American viewers with pro-republican slant, as opposed to the pro-democratic slant of the media as a whole, they would be making a strong play for HALF the viewership of the other two.

But they never do that.

When one buys into partisanshit, everything looks like partisanshit.

But they never do that.

Nope, they don't. Because political ideologies don't sell eyeballs. Emotional investment does.

Fox noise doesn't get its ratings because it takes a particular political position. It gets them because it traffics in fear and loathing. It gets them because it presents this fantasy narrative of "evil liburrul media" and "eebil black people" and "eebil politicians" that are all out to "get" you and we're on your "side". In short it sells paranoia.

The particular details are not the point --- the psychology is. Angry old white guys pounding on the table joined by miniskirted bimbos surrounded by a candy-colored set while Pee Wee Herman-style suggestions run across the screen and transition graphics go wwwwhhhhoooooossssh ---- this is a veritable ORGY of emotional stimulation, splashed all over the obediently waiting viewer's face. And they lap it up. Or at least enough of them do to milk their wallets.

It's no coincidence that Rupert Murdoch made his fortune selling sleazy tabloid newspapers. He understands how the basest human weaknesses can be exploited. He understands there's gold in them thar ills. Fox Noise is simply the same thing as a gossip rag, transferred to television. Instead of Hollyweird celebrities they focus on politicians, but it's the same thing ---- personal, rather than ideological. People (the politicians), not policy.

That's because policy is an abstract that requires intellect and context. But when you focus on people, you have an emotional hook. Policy is impersonal but you can directly demonize a person. And when you do that you create a divide, with "our side" obviously being the guys in the white hats. And that keeps the viewer coming back for more. And the more you do that, the more ratings you get, ergo the more money you can make selling commercials. Which means the viewer's just been played.

Doesn't matter which "side" you take to do that. The point is emotional manipulation. Wherever you can manipulate emotions --- you have an audience. See Fox Noise --- and for that matter everything on TV --- for what it is.... psychological, not political, propaganda. The political game, when it's present, is just one of many tools, others of which include the sports tool, the people-freaking-out-in-disaster tool, the outraged morals tool, and the check-out-the-plebes tool. Ultimately its target is not this political "side" or that one --- it's YOU.

Here's the shell game in a nutshell --- Fox Noise ---- and every other commercial TV channel -- in effect displays a graphic saying "send us money -- but don't send it directly, send it to one of our agents --- Viagra, or Ford Trucks, or Cialis, or Wendy's. Your choice".

That's the entire reason they exist, and the entire reason ratings exist. Now since a viewer is not quite passive enough to just send money for no reason, and since they have other "competitors" telling the viewer the same thing, they have to get creative and come up with some kind of emotional-manipulation candy. Could be a weird inbred family making duck calls. Could be a couple of naked strangers left to fend for themselves on an island. Could be fake wrestling. Could be a camera truck running around chasing adulterers you don't know or onstage paternity test results. Or it could be angry old white guys pounding on the table joined by miniskirted bimbos surrounded by a candy-colored set while Pee Wee Herman-style suggestions run across the screen and transition graphics go wwwwhhhhoooooossssh.

All variant flavors of the same thing, produced for the same goal. Trust me, they don't care whether you root for the naked people, root against the adulterer, root for this fake wrestler or that one, or root for this political party or that one. All they care about is that you're WATCHING.

That's the difference between "attention" and "assent".

Hardley, but you need to see what you need to see, so see it, it's ok with me. You just keep investing all your energy in partisanshit and the intended anxiety and incoherence that comes out of buying into that. If anyone else out there has this same dispute with american television; all you have to do is stop participating in it and supporting it by watching and then going on line to post about what you've seen there.

And then you can do what you do sir. No problem.

i point out that reality disagreed with your conspiracy theory and nothing in your post addresses that.

OK, sure.

The other networks are not behaving as your theory would expect.

Thus your theory does not fit with reality.

Mine does.

Aren't they?

How many hours did they devote to stupid shit like Michael Jackson's death or O.J. Simpson's trial?

Because it SELLS.

Kinda makes all their moaning and bitching about some "liberal MSM" nonsense don't it.

Not really.

The industry is dominated by asshole lefties, who spout propaganda designed to serve their ideological agenda.

ONE network is slated to present a viewpoint that does NOT piss on the OTHER half of America.

Thus Fox gets the underserved half of America, while the rest of them split up the over served half of America.

Six major multinational corporations bought up your media after the FCC was deregulated under Clinton. What had been 50 some odd companies in the game back in the 1980s is now down to 6 corporations that control ~90% of what americans see, hear, and read. That's objective reality, which you apparently have no use for.

Don't allow me to muck up your need to feel victimized and downtrodden though.

Nothing in that post challenges or even really addressed my post that it was supposedly responding to.

Thus my point stands.

Ah, another self declared "victor" on an anonymous chat board. Your boob tube is a propaganda tool - a mechanism by which to manage the perceptual reality of the masses - owned by 6 multinational corporations.

That's how america got tricked into a bogus war in Iraq with no questioning anywhere, including the "OTHER half of america."

The masses must be kept incoherent, anxious, divided, and seething with resentment toward one another. You sir are Exhibit A.

Excellent example of how Consolidated US Media (CUM) is if anything biased to the conservative, i.e. perpetuating The System. Upsetting the System would be suicide to a business that is, like all profit-making entities, out to make a profit. It needs the System to perpetuate indefinitely. The viewer may be its meal ticket but the System is the paper that ticket is printed on.

How many of the masses are, and were at the time, cognizant that the anti-Iraq war protests that went down exactly fourteen years and one week ago, were the largest mobilization of public protest in human history? Can't report that --- doesn't serve the System. Unless maybe you can find somebody violent somewhere, that'll sell.

For that matter how many are aware that the entire media reporting on its own consolidation scheme in 1996 added up, all sources combined, to a grand total of less than twenty minutes? How many are aware that TelComm 96 even happened?

I'll wager if Donald Rump came right out and said "tomorrow I'm signing an EO nullifying the First Amendment" there'd be wall-to-wall coverage. That after all would massively impact public discourse. And yet when legislation went through that allowed a single entity to own and control twelve hundred radio stations ----- which equally massively impacts public disourse ---- nary a peep.

Because then they would be politically charged like Fox.
