Well where I is from we called a cheekin' coup a pen for chickens and a cheekin' house was where they spent the night.......to keep them safe........and to muffle the rooster crowing all night...

i keep mine in a coop at night....well built and designed....has two doors for the chickens and a real door for human and a drop door for collecting eggs...too many night predators

Tips ----> My all season chicken coop

Looks like a good idea. My father kept chickens. There were already out buildings on the property when he bought it. In addition to the house, there were 3 other buildings. There was a house for chickens and for rabbits and a larger one that we kids used as a play house. The chicken and rabbit houses were separate and had open fenced in areas for them to go outside. I don't know about heating. My father was an electrician, so I imagine he'd have set up some kind of electric heating for winter. We had chicken or rabbit every Sunday dinner.
