The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) is the largest bank in the world by total assets. It’s also owned by the Chinese government — and currently leases an entire floor of Trump Tower in Manhattan.

In 2008, ICBC signed a $1.5 million lease with the Trump Organization for the 20th floor of New York City’s Trump Tower. According to Bloomberg, the bank’s lease ends in October 2019 and if ICBC wants to renew its lease next year, it would do so while Trump is president of the United States. The situation raises unprecedented questions about the president’s potential conflicts of interest in dealing with a foreign government.
