"For The First Time In My Adult Life..."

I am more than willing to overlook her opinion and focus instead on the positive i see in her.
My understanding is she said this awhile ago. Who among us has not said something that we later realized was stupid?

yeah, all of us.
I think we can have a dialogue. Why do you believe that what she said is something that warrants needing to be overlooked?

I thought she said that 'proud of america" thing a long time ago.
And again, I don't see her making such a statement as a bad thing. I am willing to "overlook", as in not making a big deal out of it instead of dwelling on it like some have been doing.

Damn, I would give my eyeteeth to hook that fish in my kayak!

One of the surest ways to tell a Lib is trying to weasel his way out of a bad situation is when the talk about "Context"

I was willing to let that statement of hers go but now that I think about it it is beginning to irritate me a lot.

I used his own context that he wanted us to frame his statement around and pointed out that it is a collectivist thinking because why would you hate an aspect of your own personality because others who share that same aspect are assholes. Its like they can't see themselves as distinct individual from the larger society.

My wife feels the same way. I can respect that.

WHO did The First Lady blame for her discriminations? And when? I don't recall her ever doing that?

She did not say that but another poster said it which makes me ask why should we hate our an aspect of our identity such as our nation of orgin because of the acts of others. I don't hate my American self because other Americans cut me off and gave me the bird so why should anyone hate any part of themselves because others who share the same aspect treats them badly?

Its a symptom of the problem with people on the left and that is collective thinking. Other Americans are racist therefore, I being an American, must also be just as bad which is why I hate my country.
She said for the first time in her ADULT life she was VERY proud of her country.

2 key words. Adult. and Very. Either or has the weight to put perspective on what she said.

You act as if she said, "I hated America all my natural born life, but now I think I'm starting to like it."

Thats how you and those on your side act.

Its a fallacy.

Why do that? Why?

Honestly speaking, thats only how YOU would see it, or even worse how YOU would want to frame it.

What you just stated is an opinion, not a fact. Fact is, you have no idea what she meant. Just what you THINK she meant.

Officials at the procurator's office confirmed that a traveler on the road to Jerusalem was set upon 1980 years ago. The traveler was robbed and dumped in a ditch, where a Samaritan citizen, name not given, found him and brought him to an in where he was receiving medical care, despite which he was recovering from his wounds.

Biggus Dickus, a spokesman for the Procurator's office said that they had arrested a couple of suspects and would deal with them in an exemplary manner.

In other news, a Garadine farmer complained about the loss of 300 pigs, who escaped from their pens and ran pel mel into Lake Kinneret. The farmer couldn't explain what happened. "All the sudden they all went nuts!" he said.

A probate hearing for Lazarus was canceled. He apparently wasn't dead after all.

Instead of blaming the entire American society for her problems she should blame those individuals who actually did discriminate against her. Why do the actions of other Americans that have treated her bad make her not be proud to be an American? I know some people have called me names like fat but I never hated being an American because most people in this society treat fat people that way.

Lose some weight Lard Arse, and nobody will call you fat...

It's hard to imagine two more privileged people than Barry and Michelle Obama. If they had been living in Kenya they would still be the dirt farmers they are suited to. The only reason they occupy the positions they do is because it is in America. But only NOW is she is proud. (OK, it was actually THEN, but we'll play timewarp here for a second).

Do you really wanna play the game of posting historical newspaper front pages to make the argument of when America had a proud moment vs. when it hasn't?

Really?

You think you'd actually win that game?

LOL!!

That's rich!

Wow, are you dense.
The point was to make fun of your topic, which is about 18 months too late.

if you want to discuss this old news, then use the search function and read many pages of discussion that have already been written.

Why should we all do it again when it's already been once, twice, three times already?

As long as I've been here, no one has discussed the sinking of the Titanic.

You know the rest of Mrs. Obama's statement.

To you RWers, what really is so bad, wrong or Anti-American about her statement?

Someoen who aspires to be the first lady should do so because they are proud of the USA.
Or they should, during the campiagn, make it clear they are not proud of the nation.

She strikes me as another moronic liberal who actually nelieves the socialist trend is GOOD for the US, but who would ratehr "get hers" than do without for another's sake.

When that happens I can then say "for the first time in my adult life I am proud to be an American" but until then America sucks and so do you. Why do hate fat people so much?
