We are in an era that is termed as the post-sin generation. This is a term thatis anathema for far right social conservatives and an undefined number of traditional Christians. from For Christian Millennials gay marriage debate produces new views on morality - Yahoo News

"Across the denominational spectrum, Millennials – including many among the more conservative Evangelicals and Catholics – are pondering interpretations of Scripture, and they’re finding new meanings of morality and Christian love. These young people are also feeling a disconnect between their church life and US society, where cultural understandings of human sexuality have been changing quickly and dramatically."

“'When everywhere you go you have full equality – the military, on TV, in business ... in schools, university classes, political institutions – and only in this one outpost of culture do you have people not accepting – it forces questions for our young people,' says David Gushee, a professor of Christian ethics at Mercer University in Atlanta, who is considered one of the nation’s leading evangelical ethicists."

At the very least the Millennials will split into liberal, uncertain, and conservative groups on the issue of marriage equality in public and in private. I believe that the issue will become less political over the coming decades.

Education cures ignorance. As people realize the good LGBT people create like with property values, that they're LGBT will mean less and less as the Almighty Dollar most worship will take precedence.

Many Christian have moderated while the far social cons have doubled dumb down.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 1Corinthians6 9-11 ESV - Or do you not know that the unrighteous - Bible Gateway

It's a tough issue.

But when you look at how Judiasm has evolved, and yes, it HAS evolved, even for ultra-orthodox, who do not stone people for certain sins that, according to the Tanakh, required a death-penalty, I can imagine that within a couple of generations, this won't even be an issue.

There are a couple of secular factors at play which are effecting ecumenical outlooks.

First and foremost: awareness. Homosexuals are no longer afraid to admit who they are any longer. The social repression forcing most homosexuals into the 'closet' is abating due to the resistance of homosexuals to that repression. The Stonewall Inn riots of the 1970s kick started the awareness campaign which is still going strong today. Young people are aware of homosexuality and therefore less likely to adopt the tactics of their fathers and grandfathers and force homosexuals to be sequestered and silent.

Churches are supposed to be places of openness, acceptance, forgiveness and community. Why should such ideals be abandoned? Those ideals should extend to everyone. Young folks are smart enough to recognize the hypocrisy of discrimination under the aegis of acceptance and forgiveness.

Social awareness, Christ's love for Him and of Him, and the abandonment of the social con churches to the far right by most Millennials as they come of age make the future very predictable on this issue.
