For all the talk about Bush being like Hitler back in the day

If The New Messiah is re-anointed in January we won't need no steenkin elections thereafter.

Well, we might need them but you can yet your ass we won't be allowed to have any.

Wrong........if the GOP wins, we will turn into a fascist nation.

Wake up. Were already on that path.

Please don't confuse liberals with facts. It makes them confused so they stumble whilst climbing up the basement stairs for a fresh glass of white whine.

Fascist | Define Fascist at Dictionary.com

Like I said......if the GOP wins, we become a fascist nation, because in order for anyone currently in the GOP race to get the base, they keep moving farther and farther right.

That's A definition.

However, the NEW definition includes far left wing ideologies as well....

You will note Merriam-Webster doesn't spout any of the nonsense about it being "far right". That's leftist bull crap. Which is why I don't use dictionary.com except for simple (red, white, potato) definitions. It's just as bad as wiki.

Fascism - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Here ya go Kosher Twit..........14 defining characteristics of fascism from a scholar who actually studies this subject........

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

And.........if you read the 14 common points, it sounds an awful lot like what the GOP is pushing for right now.

Baracknophobia is rampant here.

You do realize that once elected Hitler seized power by deception and decree and then killed thousands of his political opponents to stay in power right?

Get back to us when Baracks secret police start rounding up Republicans, and lining them up to be shot. K.

Hitler had to confiscate guns before he went around killing people. It did not happen in three years time either.
Why do people think Hitler supported gun control? - Yahoo!7 Answers

Why do people think Hitler supported gun control?

The Nazi party loosened not restricted gun control. The 1938 German Weapons Act deregulated all rifles and shotguns and ammunition, expanded those exempt from gun restrictions, lowered the minimum age to acquire a gun license and extended the length of gun permits. Only for Jews was gun ownership banned. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politic…
Yet regularly people, particular on this site, claim he favoured tighter gun control. Is this just part of the trend of comparing your opponents to Hitler without any real evidence or do people actually believe it?

Obama has surpassed him by leaps and bounds with his oval office decrees and dictatorial laws he has passed. This man has made insane power grabs in every area growing the govt to an unsustainable size.

Everyone said Obama was going to "fix" Bushes mistakes but all he's done is double downed on them while adding his own.

What a disaster.

For all the talk about Bush being like Hitler back in the day

Your brain is a disaster. I never heard or saw anyone describe Bush as like Hitler.

Krusty the Clown maybe but Hitler ...not so much. Hitler was a very effective speaker. Bush was an embarrassment.

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country." --Adolf Hitler, dinner talk on April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitler's Table Talk 1941-44: His Private Conversations, Second Edition (1973), Pg. 425-426. Translated by Norman Cameron and R. H. Stevens. Introduced and with a new preface by H. R. Trevor-Roper. The original German papers were known as Bormann-Vermerke. "

"31 Similarities Between Hitler and President Bush

"
When President Bush decided to invade Iraq, his spokesmen began comparing Saddam Hussein to Adolph Hitler, the most monstrous figure in modern history. Everybody was therefore shocked when a high German bureaucrat turned the tables by comparing Bush himself with Hitler. As to be expected, she (the bureaucrat) was forced to resign because of her extreme disrespect for an American president. However, the resemblance sticks--there are too many similarities to be ignored, some of which may be listed here.
 • Like Hitler, President Bush was not elected by a majority, but was forced to engage in political maneuvering in order to gain office.
 • Like Hitler, Bush began to curtail civil liberties in response to a well-publicized disaster, in Hitler’s case the Reichstag fire, in Bush’s case the 9-11 catastrophe.
 • Like Hitler, Bush went on to pursue a reckless foreign policy without the mandate of the electorate and despite the opposition of most foreign nations."

Gun control laws are depicted as benign and historically progressive.

However, German firearm laws and hysteria created against Jewish firearm owners played a major role in laying the groundwork for the eradication of German Jewry in the Holocaust. Disarming political opponents was a categorical imperative of the Nazi regime.

This article addresses German firearms laws and Nazi policies and practices
to disarm German citizens, particularly political opponents and Jews. It begins with an account of post-World War I chaos, which led to the enactment in 1928 by the liberal Weimar republic of Germany’s first comprehensive gun control law. Next, the Nazi seizure of power in 1933 was consolidated by massive searches and seizures of firearms from political opponents, who were invariably described as “communists.”
After five years of repression and eradication of dissidents, Hitler signed a new gun control law in 1938, which benefitted Nazi party members and entities, but denied firearm ownership to enemies of the state. Later that year, in
Kristallnacht (the Night of the Broken Glass), in one fell swoop, the Nazi regime disarmed Germany’s Jews.
"Without any ability to defend themselves, the Jewish population could easily be sent to concentration camps for the Final Solution. After World War II began, Nazi authorities continued to register and mistrust civilian firearm owners, and German resistence to the Nazi regime was unsuccessful.

Individuals were responsible for the attack NOT countries...

Many countries were pleased but not responsible.
