food prices

do you understand how the price of corn effects the prices of a number of other foods?

Minimally. I know farmers most either grow corn or soybeans on the same acreage.
I don't know about you but I eat very few soybeans.

It has the most impact thru speculation.
actually since corn is also a feed product it effects quite a few
pork, beef, chicken, all fed with corn

Yep we have more cows in this county than people and the price has been pretty stable all year on beef, but it keeps going up in the stores.
hmmm.

And I have cattle myself so I do know.

yep we cattlemen are making less money becuase the inputs are rising but the sellinig price for cattle is pretty much the same. but someone up the chain is raising their price.

And I know a guy who is sitting on many tons of shelled corn because the price has been too low for him to sell. His inputs rose more than his output price. fertilizer, seed, fuel, etc.
