I don't see a problem with paying by the pound. Heavier people are using more resources, why shouldn't they pay a proportional amount?

rich people use more resources than poor.....well not really becuase there are entire buildings with hundreds of people in them to help the poor....so maybe the poor shuld be charged more to offset their carbon footprint....

But can the poor afford to buy shoes for their carbon footprint?

Thing is, it doesn't effect me in any way, so really I don't care ... as long as they don't make some stupid "sin law" for it. I could see them now, it's so unhealthy to be fat (according to peer pressured scientists and doctors) that they add a "sin tax" to all forms of travel because of it.

Now that would rule ... foolish of them ... but it would actually give me incentive to use them once in a while.

It's also a basis for a discrimination suite.

They would have to prove they need to spend more fuel then that have the past 80+ years to charge more or less.
