Florida's unpopular Governor could hurt GOP in 2012

Maybe next NPR can do a story on Obama supporting or expanding all the hated Bush policies and how that "could hinder his chances in 2012." Of course that would not be correct and not come off as supporting their party so NPR would never do that.

eye to eye with leaders in Florida's Republican-controlled Legislature. In the end however, members largely went along with his proposals — to reform public pensions, cut spending on education, slash environmental regulations and eliminate curbs on development.

He’s succeeding in his goal to turn Florida into an asphalt covered cesspool with ignorant children and missing vital government services.

Good job.

Scott A Hero To Tea Party, Not Others

Although popular with the Tea Party, Scott's not doing well with other Florida voters. A recent poll by Quinnipiac University found that 57 percent of Floridians disapprove of the job Scott is doing as governor. Only 29 percent approve — the lowest rating of any governor in any state in which polls have been conducted.

Scott's a former hospital CEO who ran for governor on the promise he would operate Florida's state government like a business. He spent about $70 million of his own money on the race and eked out a razor-slim win, becoming governor with less than 50 percent of the vote.

Susan MacManus, a political science professor at the University of South Florida, says that's one reason why his approval ratings are so low.

"So he didn't have a lot of cushion to begin with," MacManus says. "And of course, he promised 700,000 new jobs. And Florida's economy is still very bad. And things haven't happened as rapidly as Floridians are used to."

At 10.8 percent, unemployment in Florida is still well above the national average. And nearly 1 in 5 homeowners is behind on mortgage payments.

It's because of irresponsible governing by Crist that he is having to make these deep cuts. It sucks education had to be cut back but its necessary thing. I think he is doing a great job...he is fulfilling what he said he was going to do. People need to stop depending on the government for everything and take some local control especially of education.Hell he has been in office 4 months it takes a little bit of time to fix things.

He is going to punish the middle class and give their increased contributions directly to the corporations. And alot of those people who are going to be hurt voted for him. Insanity. But then again thats florida for ya. When there is no SS, no medicare, nothing for those that have worked hard all their lives then we will truly have what the GOP wants, a pure plutocracy. Its headed that way. Back to the feudal system. I'd stake everything I have on it. It's going to happen.

Seems Republicans are doing an amazing job all across the US. Look how they carried out their campaign promise of "Jobs jobs jobs". In fact, most Americans are amazed at what Republicans have done between their campaign rhetoric and what they have actually done since being in office.

How are they to PERFORM when you have a Staist/POTUS that has erected WALLS?

Deany? YOU ain't to fucking bright are you?

Rick Scott is polling about as well as herpes.

It will have no impact on whether or not President Obama carries the state in 2012.

And not a single example. Just more of the same. Pathetic rhetoric that even you don't believe yourself.

And *I* assure you all? The Governor HERE in Floriuda is VERY popular...despite the Statist Soros LIES...If you can hear it through the Democratic WHINERS.

Maybe in the, obviously very small, circles you run in, but he is NOT popular in the state (and you were just shown two links to back up that assertion). Would you like more?

Gov. Scott's Approval Ratings at New Low

That says "new LOW" not "stunningly popular". A Quinnepac poll (which just happens to be right leaning) gave him a 29% favorability rating. I could just imagine the righties peeing their pants if President Obama had that kind of ranking.

Try leaving the Tea Party playground for just a sec, venture out in the real world and ask some Floridians how they like Governor Skelator. I know quite a few Floridians of varying political persuasions...and, for once, they are all pretty united in their disgust with the criminal governor Scott.
