Florida Republican Legislature: Make Charlie Crist PAY for Calling A Special Session

There is absolutely no merit in Charlie Crist’s calling a special session of the Florida Legislature in order to place a constitutional amendment to the Florida Constitution banning Offshore Oil Drilling. It is already illegal under Florida Statute and hence this session is a waste of time. There is plenty of time to discuss this issue AFTER the problem is solved. The only reason Charlie is calling this session is his hope voters more inclined to him will turn up on election day if this issue is on the ballot.

Here is what the legislature should do when called into Special Session: Investigate the abominable performance of both the executive departments of the U.S. Government and the State of Florida. First on their list of witnesses should be the County Commissioners of Okaloosa County who defied Obama and Crist and began to seal up Choctawhatchee Bay before the oil arrived. Quite simply, neither Obama or Charlie could make up their minds what to do and our local officials took the “Bull by the Horns” and did something. It was their finest hour and in Okaloosa County, Republicans, Democrats and Independents applauded them.

Agreed. This was a waste of time ($55,000 to Florida Taxpayers) in a worsening economy. Crist is showing what a partisan buffoon he is in his bid for the U.S. Senate Seat.

I don't think this really won him any votes. He's no different than Obama, and seems to embrace Obama's policies...even more now that he has declared himself an independent. And odd that he's been talking to Democrats in DC too.

Sorry Charlie.

What is the legal mechanism to force the governor to pay for a session that he has the mandate to call?

why does he need a special session if the act is already unlawful and on the books? is he an attention seeking whore?

Exactly. And the 'Pay' is of a political nature from the voters of Florida.

Again? Sorry Charlie. You're a hack. Maybe Obama will appoint you Czar of___________________?

Yes, he is.
He wants to put himself out front as actually doing something when all he is doing is photo-ops.

For those of you not in Florida, any amendments to our state constitution must be put on our ballot.
Special session is nothing.

Yes. Yes he is.

But he is the governor and has the power to call a special session, and he doesn't have to pay for it.

Make more sense to make the Republican dbags that didn't use the special session since they were already there pay for it. What a waste those idiots are.

The taxpayers here in FL will pay the bill. The Republicans in the State House did the smart thing by closing the session quickly so that the cost would be minimized. They had no REAL business to attend to.
