Didn't you once disagree with me when I made this exact point to support my position that ALL primaries should be open?

I looked and though I do remember you making that point, I think we were discussing something a little different.

The way I understand it, the respective parties could do away with the primaries if they choose and pick their own nominee. But it seems to me since they don't they can't discount states that participate...especially since the states are paying. It isn't as Larkin is portraying it, that the state is giving money to someone to use as the someone sees fit. It's actually the state running the election.

I don't think so. I just blamed it on the states themselves and not the DNC.

IMO, in the absence of a complete do-over, there is no way to resolve the disenfranchisment of the voters. I think the compromise was as close to a truly equitable solution as any I can think of.

The party ulitmately gets to decide who they run. Simple as that. If you truly believe as you suggest, then to be consistent, you'd have to also believe that the superdelegates shouldn't get to vote at all.
