Even if you're not an aviation buff- this is fascinating stuff.

FlightAware - Flight Tracker / Flight Status / Flight Tracking

Quick way to start is to click on "Live Flight Tracking" then "Random Airport".

A map will open, showing all in-flight aircraft in the vicinity of the airport.
Mouseover reveals flight number, aircraft type, origin and destination, and a couple other numbers I haven't figured out LOL.

Double-click on an aircraft and it shows the flight path and other more detailed info like duration and progress.

You can also view a track log and graph showing altitude profile.

    A great time-waster... with purpose! :D

At least I'm sober tonight. :D

I got my pilot's license back in the 70's but never logged more than 100 hours.
    Great fun.
I wish there was a link to listen in on the comms.

I lived near McGhee Tyson south of Knoxville and could pick up comms on my FM radio.
One night an obviously rookie pilot calls approach and nervously says "uh this is November two niner alpha...
    coming in for a landing!"

LOL. Ah this is cool. Brings back some memories.
