The Fair Tax is a sales tax. So it taxes EVERYONE. Where in the heck did you get the idea it only taxes the poor?

The poor pay no Federal tax now. This would have them pay all sorts of tax.

And for it to be revenue neutral it would have to be pretty high. The middle class will pay more in this new Federal sales tax than they do now in Federal payroll tax.

The FAIR tax pays everyone a "prebate" in advance to compensate for all the taxes paid on the first $40,000 of spending.

Thi would be a GOP proposal...so we'd have to rely on a GOP COngress to set that "probate" in a way that not increase the tax burden on the middle class.
