Fixing illegal immigration?

Just throwing this out there for debate.

Instead of deporting illegal immigrants back to wherever they came from, how about we let them stay and punish the businesses who hire illegals.

First offense will be a written warning
Second offense will be a $1,000.00 fine for every illegal working
Third offense will be a $5,000.00 fine for every illegal working
Fourth and final offense will be the seizure of the business to be sold with a mandatory fine and jail sentence of 1 year for the owner.

Agree with punishing the businesses who hire illegals, but why not also deport the illegals? Of course, once businesses don't hire, the illegals will likely just go back where they came from.

Yes, and I think it is a much better approach than silly walls, fences, moats, minefields, and general xenophobia the right keeps coming up with.
