To get a local angle I check into the Chicago Tribune's article. I'm hopeful the victim gets justice and these 5 get punishment they deserve.

So far 3 of the 5 have plea bargained and pled guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge, accepting one year probation and 100 hours of community service. The victim is happy with the deal, an attitude that makes sense to me.
